How do you feel about Double so far?

I pretty much back what Iga said since it more or less is how I feel (though he explained it much better). Double is a good show on paper, but the execution just isn't there for me and part of the reason I had fun watching Decade was because of the spectacle ...well that and aside from the whole "no overall idea what is was doing", the individual stories were really good.

Decade did have some impressively written two-episode arcs. I'm kind of glad W has turned down the spectacle, though, it gives them a lot more time to flesh out the characters. Decade never quite figured out how to balance the big fights and its character beats.

Someone asked, "Why can't the CGI be like American CGI?" (paraphrased). It's important to remember that America has pretty much the biggest entertainment industry in the world and can rightfully claim to have invented CGI effects. As such, American CGI and 3D animation tends to be the best in the world.

This is not to say Japan can't generate good CGI (Ultraman shows tend to have much better CGI than Rider on the whole, so do films). That said, Toei is probably just not going to try as hard as an American company would with computer effects, and may not have the tools to do better effects in a cost-effective way.

They seem to be trying very hard for a group dynamic in this show, which makes it very difficult to give all characters their (perceived) deserved screentime while keeping the story going. This tends to shrift the main characters or any main plot at the expense of minor characters or wacky comedy (which is getting pretty old at this point) in a franchise which is pretty solidly a "main character and his sidekicks" flavor.

One way or the other, this show brings back the good ol' badass biker feel for W has shown so many of them already into the next level. (Feels like it's a light mix of Kuuga, Agito and Faiz.) man! Can't get enough of it.

Alright, really the only craptacular CGI that I saw in the show was the horribly rendered T-rex head in episode 2, and some renderings of double. Other than that I think the CGI was good, not great, but good.

W's not bad-looking by Toei standards. The W CGI is still disappointing, though, Ultraman shows made a couple years ago still look better.

I don't quite get why modern Ultraman always has CGI that's so much better than than any of the Toei shows I've seen.

I will rate W for 3 things, Action, Plot, and the Detective part of what the series is supposed to have

action....10, great action. nuff said

Plot....8, has good plot with jokes mixed in

why?

is not detective enough...its more of an action comedy, is not even dramatic. unlike the other riders. it seems really carefree, except the philip story where he is being track down. where is all the detective work? I'm used on reading lots of crime books, and detective stories, and some Manga. meh, is still 15 episodes. so it will probably get better

overall....8. great Kamen Rider. love it

Double has been great so far but i find myself dozing off while watching some of the episodes midway :laugh: ... 7/10 i guess *shrugs*
