The point is, that the story was 100% true at the time. The development of television series and movies morph as they go along, and things change. Some of them are greenlighted, others fade into antiquity, while others are developed and re-developed, until they are picked up and produced. Such is the case with KAMEN RIDER DRAGON KNIGHT.

Similarly, PREDATOR went through a number of script changes, and different monsters were discussed between screenplay and production. Originally, the monster was too difficult to realize with '80s technology, and Stan Winston told them, that the technology to bring it to life was at least a decade away. The next draft featured an invisible, flying jellyfish monster! Stan Winston, who was hired to do the effects and create the creature, didn't think highly of this concept, and staged a design contest among his staffers. Steve Wang's design was the winning entry, and the Predator went onto become one of the icons of American horror/sci-fi films.

Steve and his brother, are the men who finally got the US adaptation of RYUKI to work for Adness and Toei. Perhaps it will spark a resurgence of interest in KAMEN RIDER in the US, with a bunch of trendy noobs (ala PR). Perhaps some good will come of it? Perhaps, it will flop? Who knows... Personally, I'm not big on US adaptations, because I like the Japanese shows, simply because they are Japanese. Remove that element, and they become uninteresting to me.

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine auditioned for a role in the pilot for "Dragon Knight," and we posted a story about this on my old website, Henshin! Online. Many North American toku fans scoffed at our story and claimed that we were posting a hoax, or told us we were punk'd. After several days, our source asked us to take it down when he thought that leaking the story might ruin his chances for being hired. This seemed to convince the a-holes that they were right. Now, that the series is reality, confirms that our story was indeed true, and that all of those who bagged on us should apologizing. But, they won't, because they aren't men enough to do so.

I remember this quite well. I stepped to bat for you on the RangerBoard and got knocked around for it.

Whatev.

I saw it first... as Ryuki on Japan Hero. It was the first clip I ever downloaded from there, and it was a fight with Taiga. I ran to eBay, picked up the HK's and the rest... is history.

I have never really had much faith in localizations. Saban tried to bring toku here back in the 90s with Power Rangers, but they just made a big joke out of it, and that unfortunately has ruined a lot of tokusatsu's credibility in mainland America. Not to mention they played PR off as solely their own creation (and all those other shows as spin-offs of PR), which has created the problem we have today with being mocked for even so much as watching the original shows. I've even heard a person mock another for watching an Ultraman show from the 60s, calling him a Power Ranger... :redface2: People don't get it because PR is the only thing they've ever been exposed to, and they sincerely believe it's an American show and the only one of its kind. We need more shows like Dragon Knight to break that stigma before tokusatsu can ever have the chance at success it needs here.

You have to remember that anime got its start here on Americanizations. It seemed to explode into a phenomenon after Pokemon hit in 1998. Slowly but surely it took off and now it has gotten to the point where you can walk into any Best Buy and find an entire section dedicated to anime DVDs, or walk into a bookstore and find an entire shelf full of manga. That was completely unheard of 10 years ago. It still astounds me how popular it became in such a short period of time.

The difference between then and now, however, is that the internet has grown. With sites like Wikipedia and YouTube things spread like wildfire these days. Call me an optimist, but I truly believe Dragon Knight will be tokusatsu's answer to Pokemon, and 201X will be to toku what 200X was to anime. atriotic:

2007 a pilot for selling was put out and a few people got to watch it before it got leaked out by some dude on rangerboard. it had nothing to do with the actual show we have now cause it was just for selling to the networks

2008: we have all the info and stuff provided to us by sources such as Keith and Masked Rider Aftershock and we saw the real first episode on December 13th 2008.

2009: Buckle up. get ready to ride.

August. i remember this. back in 2003 you told me and the rest of japan hero a great deal about this when it was Future Dragon or Masked Rider DK. i remember it a lot and i just want to thank you cause you got me to hype it up. in my Design 1 class in freshmen year i made a shirt that has a picture of a dragon on it and it says "Dragon Knight" and i've worn that shirt all during high school. i wish i could find it now.
