Group wants Ronald to retire

Seems this consumer rights group wants McDonald's to retire Ronald. I swear some people just have way to much time on their hands.

No... I think they're serious. They are somehow justified in that Ronald is basically a marketing gimmick to get kids to eat unhealthy junkfood... Kids don't need that kind of motivation really.

I wouldn't outright retire the character but I don't think I would let him stay on the air... even if I got to admit I love McDonald's more whimsical ads.

Then again in my province its illegal to make ads that target kids in the first place so Ronald only shows up on the American networks.

Man I don't see the point. He's not even shown on local Mcdonald's ads these days... people cringe when they hear him say stupid things like "Ronald's Magic". Removing him isn't gonna help people stay healthy.

Most importantly, even if he's outdated, our entire generation still identifies him as the personification of Mcdonald's. Remove him and their stellar marketing efforts up to now will all crumble.

Sounds like left-wing idiots that want to place the blame elsewhere for the fact that they either baby their kid, or don't just plain don't know how to be good parents.

Besides, if you happen to have tried to watch Toon Disney/ Disney XD in the past 5 years, every other commercial is a McDonalds commercial with Ronald promoting healthy activity and physical fitness.

For Christ's sake, they have freaking sliced apples and and milk as alternatives. Granted, going to McDonalds for healthy food is like going to a crack house for vitamins, but I digress.

It's your fault your child is fat, do something productive about it, and deal with it.
