Group wants Ronald to retire

I guess, considering i'm fat. You'd think i'd be on the other side, but hey.

I know perfectly damn well why I am fat. I'm lazy, apathetic, and play video games too much. I'm not ginormous, but I am not an athlete either.

Same here really.

I don't blame the character Ronald but I don't endorse TV ads aimed at kids on general principle *shrugs*

And as much as I enjoy McDonald's (or any fast food place) from time to time the fat content is really the least of the unhealthy element in their food :p

I don't see what that has to do with denying the power of marketing, especially towards children. Ronald isn't the only factor, but then again the article didn't say he was. (side note: Kingranger, you seriously need to read past the headlines. I'm trying to help you out here. Get a clue, dude.) I don't get why you're getting angry at a non-profit organization trying to help deter childhood obesity. How is it a left wing, right wing issue?

Fast food is popular for kids the same reason as sweets: it's delicious. People should be well aware of fast food not being healthy by now, otherwise they're idiots. Then again, all humans are built to fatten themselves up.

Ronald I'm mixed on. He definitely become iconic for Mcdonalds for marketing for kids. Him and the playrooms was what got me there to begin with. Him retiring may be a big blow but it can survive, most of his supporting cast isn't seen as much as well.

I guess it isn't, really. It's just that I get so sick and tired of people blaming others for their own shortcomings. People would rather blame a fictional character, than man up and be parents, and tell their child no. I'm not saying that you should deprive the kids, but being tired and picking up fast food every night is no excuse.

You are right though, the marketing is spot on, but you can't blame that on childhood obesity. McDonalds exists in many other countries. Yes, obesity is on the rise everywhere, but not nearly as bad as in the USA.

Fast Food is cheap. The Economy sucks. Still, portion sizes are way to big in the US. At Wendy's, a medium is what used to be biggie size. I have no idea where I was going with this, but you can't blame a freaking clown.
