Gatchaman Movie Announced (with ShinkenRed!)

Official Trailer !
??????????? - YouTube

Japanese Avengers with the Tesseract

I must say, I'm quite impressed with the full trailer, and while I wish they'd make the suits a bit more faithful to the anime I understand that they must make compromises so it won't look ridiculous on the big screen. However, with its semi-realistic approach and saturated colors, I thought Chris Nolan had taken a hold of the movie or something, and like someone said it reminds me of Pacific Rim a bit. Anyway, I'm definitely pumped about finally getting the chance to see Gatchaman as a live action movie.

Their helmets are strange and not in a good way. I can accept change at some points, but the helmets look strange and nothing like the originals.

From one of my previous post...

According to Nikkatsu, the new suits give the movie a more realistic, "edgier" feel compared with the anime. [...] Apparently, it took over a year to make the "G suits", and to make it be able to withstand action scenes.

Realistic huh...there's no color in real life? lol

I like them and all, but I also don't think realistic should be an excuse. They wanted a new take/variant, fine; edgy, ok..but I'm sure some color wouldn't subtract "realism".

Yea, I am sick of that Nolan **** man. That dude is a blight on fantasy movies. Realism shouldn't be stressed that hard in a fantasy movie. Belief should be suspended when we go to see these movies. Nolan raped Batman, and it's like the world thought it was ok. You want realism go watch a documentary you know? We want our comic books and anime to be brought to live action with the same feel that made us fall in love with the series in the first place. These directors seem to think their egos are worth more the 65 plus years of story and character development. Look at what Michael Bay and company are doing to the ninja turtles. They have just announced that Shredder will be played by a white man. Oroku Saki is a white guy?! Let me end my rant here, but all I say is if you aren't gonna show the source true love just leave these properties alone.

Did you REALLY just put this movie below the Last Airbender in terms of accuracy/design choices? Really? Thats completely ridiculous. The look might be heavily stylized but the basic color layouts are still present; just alot more subtle. Also I don't think there would be a good way to pull off the more avian themed helmets in live action and not have them look VERY silly.

Of course I did. In comparison, Airbender was closer to its own source than this and it had more color, and besides ,it looks like Nolan did this on a bad day.

The basic colors aren't present which is the issue. and saying otherwise is asinine and incorrect.

There isn't? How about take these helmets, theme them off the original Gatchaman versions and see what happens. Chances are, it would look much cooler.

Also, why are you justifying this is when you'd be whining if Spiderman went Noir then how it is, or if any of the Marvel and DC films of late neutered the designs and colors for "realistic" purposes?

If I want to be an emo and listen to horrible music, I'd do that, but if they're planning on making a superhero film based around a popular franchise, its not wise to neuter every film out there.

If anything this looks like damn Evangelion and Power Rangers had a baby while intoxicated more than Gatchaman. Hell, design wise, it makes any remotely horrible superhero movie in the States [Even Returns GRider 2] look like masterpieces.

And really? That kid looks like he'll kill himself at any moment or he has a Gendo....>:(

If its realistic to have no color or themed things, what about how planes were painted with animals on them during World War II , the colors on some military craft and even uniforms to a lesser extent. If Marvel can pull Captain America off, there's no excuse that Pacific Rim knockoff that's notGatchaman can pull it off either.

It actually seems to be a trend with most anime adapts in Japan based on Tatsunoko products. Save for Speed Racer, Casshern was dark as hell and this......:redface2: Especially in post Fukushima Japan, you'd think there'd be a sense to make escapist fantasies than realistic and depressing flicks.

They should have just given it to the Wachowski Brothers or Michael Bay because it could have at least been true or a popcorn flick that was unashamed of its origins. Because if this keeps true as appearances are, then I won't watch this.

1. It's called a rhetorical question and 2. You realize that just because a movie has a darker palette does not immediately make it relatable to Nolan. It's not like Begins, Dark Knight, and Rises are the only films the guy has made. Both Memento and The Prestige have plenty of color. 3. its not like this is the first movie to revamp an old character design. Pretty much every movie based on a pre-existing franchise does, to assume that they wouldn't is whats asinine. And if you wanna complain about ruining a characters design go talk to the G. I. Joe movies.

Its very unlikely and quite frankly it doesn't really matter if they would look cooler or not, because thats not the direction they decided to go with for the suit designs. And its tremendously rude/ridiculous that you think you just instantly "know better" than an entire professional design team.

Also, why are you justifying this is when you'd be whining if Spiderman went Noir then how it is, or if any of the Marvel and DC films of late neutered the designs and colors for "realistic" purposes?

I'm not justifying anything I just think you're acting like an utter tool.
Also I love Spider-Man Noir!

What does that have to do with anything. And theres some good emo bands. That aside what the hell is your obsession neutering, that is not a word to describe what is happening here.

K, I'm gonna level with you for a tick. If you really knew anything about design, you wouldn't be flying off the handle like this. Your anger has nothing to do with the quality of the design. Your just mad cuz it doesn't look like what you want it to. That, once again has nothing to do with whether or not its well designed, which it is.
The designs are cohesive and quite frankly they spent a shitload of time and money making sure the suits could do anything they needed to, I can guarantee you that other than wanting to look "cool and futuristic" that any of the major changes made to the suits were done for the sake of practicality.

WWII has literally nothing to do with this. And neither does Pacific Rim.

Speed Racer was american produced and doesn't count cuz its not a Japanese production. While Casshern was dark the only other Tatsunoko adaptation thats been done was Yatterman which was totally upbeat. Soooooooooo, you're wrong.

Except no one gives a **** about the Wachowski Brothers anymore. And Michael Bay would've turned them into an all female crew of big tittied harpy ninjas. And none of us really care if you watch it or not, we can enjoy what will hopefully be a bitchin movie and you can be stubborn and whiney, have a blast.

Dude, BigDog like complaining about pretty trivial things, it's useless to argue with him. Seriously, the guy said he doesn't want to watch Gavan the Movie simply because the CG Dol is ugly. BigDog, if you don't want to watch Gatchaman, then cool. Nobody give a **** if you don't. You sound like a kid who's throwing a tantrum because his mommy didn't buy the right ice cream flavor
