G Gundam is back! (Sorta!)

Nice post!!
G Gundam director Yasuhiro Imagawa (Shin Mazinger) and character design collaborator Kazuhiko Shimamoto (Blazing Transfer Student, Skull Man) are reuniting to produce a new manga sequel to the Gundam franchise's kung-fu fantasy incarnation. The project is tentatively titled Mobile Fighter G Gundam the Comic and will run in Monthly Gundam Ace. There's no word on what the plot will be, but the early ads feature Domon prominently.

I wouldn't get worked up about a new G Gundam anime being produced (though it is well-known that a G sequel was in pre-production back in the 90s), since Gundam X got a sequel manga not too long ago called Under the Moonlight. That manga featured an entirely different cast, though, and IIRC didn't involve any of GX's original creators. Imagawa is slated to script G Gundam the Comic, so this project is much more interesting to G fans.

WELL IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!

(15 years after the original ended with a "See you Next Fight" we better be getting a sequel)

i was waiting for moment. another sequel of G Gundam, i'll be pleased. maybe in few years Domon is now the master of King of Hearts. but hopefully wanted to read that manga badly.

This is good news since we have had a storage of borderline racist Mobile Suits as of late.

Apparently most of those were Bandai's idea and Imagawa fought to keep the "worst" ones out of the show.

So somewhere, on some discarded Bandai drawing board, is a Gundam design somehow more racist than Tequila Gundam.

Food for thought.

Neo Mexico was the most racist, I think.

Gundam: Tequila Gundam (Really?)
Pilot: Chico Rodriguez (...Really?)
Colony: Shaped like a giant rock sombrero (....Seriously, WTF?)

I love how the Nether Gundam (the windmill ones) was absolutely useless because all it did was hide until the finals.
