I don't think JDF's no tact in any way, considering this clarifies that current controversy.

There's no way to say "it was self defense" at this point with any degree of certainty. It's far too early. And besides that, if it were clearly self defense, I doubt he'd be in jail right now with his bail set at $1 million.

There are cases when shooting with a gun or striking with a weapon IS not self-defense and this one's no exception.

Yep, you're right. The fact that he stabbed an unarmed dude with a sword isn't sitting right. Only cops can get away with killing unarmed people and he should have known that.

I know a lot of PR fans are gonna support him and claim that it was self defense for the murder of his roommate. But we don't know for sure, its too early to call and not enough information. The given context that we have right now does seems to be leaning towards that. Richardo didn't run away from the scene of the crime like most killers and actually surrendered himself to the police. So that sorta acts a leverage towards self defense. I'm not too good with US laws, but if he did use the sword on his roommate and he didn't have a gun or another sword on him, he might be in some serious trouble like major jail time for manslaughter. I think he definitely could of handled it differently, assuming that his roommate was just going crazy and wanting to assault him without a weapon. No reason to draw the sword there. I thought Ricardo also knew martial arts as well, so couldn't he kick his ass with his fists?

I'm of the opinion, if someone attacks someone, no matter what the assailant is armed with, and the defender kills them, whether or not he could of possibly, maybe(It's a LOT fucking harder to JUST disable someone without causing permanent damage than most people think, especially if you're trying not to get killed yourself.) have merely incapacitated him, I don't give a ****. His blood is on his own head, shouldn't of started the fight if he didn't want to die.

The fact that he waited for the cops to show up and is cooperating with them shows it wasn't just a black and white murder case.
Still doesn't justify what happened though.

See, this is where I lost you. Killing while fighting in self-defense is one thing, but if you are in a position to cut someone's balls off... he's no longer a threat as is, and thus puts this into straight up murderer/sick bastard territory.
