Continuing here so as not to derail the Kusaka thread:
The way I've come to understand it, both ends of the scale are total control. Socialism/communism on the Left and absolutism on the Right. Today the "far right" consists of Islamist radicals who want world theocracy. The socialist Western media however will never admit that, and will instead label the bourgeoisie, ie conservative American/Europeans as the "racist, sexist far right", coupled with the lie about Nazis being right-wing.
Of course with a bourgeoisie you need a proletariat, and the Left has created it through minority groups, women, etc. Since MLK's death it and minority politics have been exploited as a vehicle for socialism; and second-and-third-wave feminism is inherently socialist.
I'm not sure exactly how to place libertarians. They can vary from patriots to outright anarchists with the same hostilities to religion as any Leftist. But I would certainly side with a libertarian over a communist any day.
