Facebook is getting a facelift.

Yeah, I only have my facebook profile visiable to people whom I'm friends with. And with the exception of a very very small amount, I actually know everyone on there....unlike Myspace where I was like Keith and a HUGE friend list. But I didn't know even half the people I was friends with.

Anyway, to the point, you can share as much or as little as you want on Facebook. It's the same thing with Twitter, you can share as much or as little as you want. The people who have no idea how these social media sites work, or do not take the time to find out, are usually the ones complaining that their private lives are on display for all the world to see.

As for the new layout, from what I've seen of it I didn't much care for it.

While I do agree with you, KR, you should already know...your words fall on deaf ears. People have a hard time understanding a concept that's SO obvious to them because something else EVEN MORE OBVIOUS is in their face for them to pay attention.

I don't really care, though, about what the world knows or what not. Like the world has control over what I do and what I can do.

Oh, yes, yes! They can do that!

Prove it.

Exactly you have complete control over your settings, who sees what and who can access what. Now to be perfectly honest those settings aren't always upfront and obvious -- FB has actually been caught in the past hiding them or changing people's settings during these "updates"; but there are plenty of sites and watchdogs that lay it all out every time this happens and helps people keep things setup the way they want in perfect english. consumerist.com is a good one, just search "facebook" on their site and you'll find a bunch of articles on settings.

So you can run your fb how you want ... if you want to use it as a cumbersome twitter and update every three seconds you can. If you want to share everything with the world and hope to make some new friends, sure! If you just want close friends and family to be able to contact you if need be or remind you of the family gathering on Friday, cool.

It's varying degrees of "Social Networking" -- which is not a four letter word, it can be quite useful. I personally share my info with a bunch of people; it's not completely open to the public but everything is set to "friends of friends" so my profile extends to anyone who happens to be a friend of a friend of mine without already being my friend... but someone with no connection whatsoever has a very limited view of my profile.

In a friendship sense this has been great to find people with common interests and a lot of you guys have found me by being friends with say, Keith. And the ignore button is right next to the accept button so it's not that damned hard. In a networking sense it's been fantastic.. I've been getting more and more graphics clients because of facebook and it's really helped me get my name out there.

So it's just how you decide to use it and it can be a very valuable or just entertaining tool.

On the new updates -- eh. I don't like them. But the last time they changed the layout I didn't like them and it eventually grew on me. We shall see. A few of my friends have the new layout but I won't be changing mine till they force me.

I'm not liking the new profile for FB. I liked it the way it was before. Like the way of my profile is up on FB.

BK, you don't have to. Unless if you don't update your status 24/7.

Facebook you usually don't have to chat with family or friends. There are some applications/games you can play on FB. And also there is pages such as, PR, Toku, Kamen Rider.
