Earthquake hits US, Canada

I gotta stop coming into these kind of threads. The seriousness in here is to much for me. I do feel bad for that water bottle. But it didn't come open so their is hope.

In other words, these same cities will be the primary target of the deadly Hurricane Irene this upcoming weekend.

Ain't that some coincidental ****

Have you guys seen some of the damage in D.C.?

I feel your pain, i'm right in the pink. though thank god I'm not on the coast and I'm right near the Appalachian mountains so I think were I live wont be hit as bad, considering I'm at a higher sea level.

Was that a recent graphic? Because I've heard all day the NYC area is looking at a Category 1 storm with 85 MPH winds. It should last from 1pm Sunday to 1am or a little over that.

Jersey on the other hand....

I'm kinda scared, I've never been in a hurricane before. I really hope it down grades to at lest a tropical storm or something. I mean I'm no near the coast (about 90 miles away from NYC and at 200 feet above sea level) Don't know ow safe that is but I bet it is better then living on the coast

One thing to make sure you do is be prepared to lose power for an extended period (as much as a week or so). Even when there's no major damage in your area, you can still lose power for a long time, especially if you're out in the sticks and your area isn't used to dealing with hurricane damage. Get lots of water saved up in the fridge, make sure your cell phones are all charged up. Get flashlights and batteries, and prepare some analog-style entertainment (books, puzzles, etc).

Otherwise, just keep an eye on your local news and see what they say for your area in terms of physical dangers.

Well If it keeps going on the same path as it is, the worst I'll get is just some severe thunderstorm like winds...I hope. I've been in some pretty nasty storms, ones where the winds where at lest 70 miles and didn't loose power. i just hope it at the very least barely hit us and all we get is some strong wind, but who knows what will happen it could change course for all I know and not even it the united states, hurricanes are quite unpredictable.
Right now The new york coast is under a watch :/ I'm preparing for the worst late sun. early mon. i hope everything will be o.k.
