Dragonball Evolution Wasnt THAT Bad

Those examples are entirely different, its easier to "believe" in a world with magic especially in a fantasy world like LotRs. And no they are targeting the general audience, the fans they know they already have them.

Those examples are really not all that different. If you look at the original world of Dragonball (basically, the first half of the whole series, before it became "Z" in the anime) it was a whole land filled with fantasy and wonder. Hell, it was built off of a mystical myth about a Monkey Boy on a journey  Yeah, the tone kind of changed, but it NEVER had the tone that was present in Dragonball Evolution. It not only changed the tone of the entire show, but the tone of the characters as well.

But still, I ranted away from my original point :P My point is, the animals talked, their first real enemy was a bunny, their next enemy was a blue midget, and there were dinosaurs at one point :loltongue: (Although I think that was shown in the second half more). If that land isn't mystical and filled with "magic" (if a Kamehameha can be called "air bending", then "sorcery" can be applied too :P) then I don't know what is...

Oh, and the obviously failed to try and get other people to enjoy it, because the fan base hated it, that spread, and then even people who had very little nostalgia with it didn't even want to see it OR ended up hating it themselves. Oh, and from what I hear, the normal movie goer didn't even enjoy it :P

I liked it a lot. I thought it really carried the spirit of the source material, and I think there were probably a lot of people who were disappointed with it because they thought it was based on DBZ. but I found a lot to like

How so...? Even when compared to the original Dragonball...it had NOTHING to do with it :redface2: he was completely the opposite of what Goku IS...

The only character in the movie who was anything like his character in the manga/anime was Master Roshi. Bulma wasn't as bad, as she did think she was hot **** in the beginning of the anime.

I don't really care either way, but you can make a movie that's drastically different from the source material and still maintain the same 'feel.' Like Hellboy.

X2 kind of did that. The Roster was quite different from the comics, but it kind of had that "Ultimate" feel to it.

The movie wasnt a pile of ****, but it wasnt that good either. I think I watched it after watching The Legend of Chun Li (I was on a crappy movie binge at that point) and compared to that garbage, Dragonball Evolution holds up. Lets just say that I would have been pissed if I had spent money on it.
