Does Super Sentai put you off Power Rangers

I was the kid who was an outcast because I watched PR still when I was 10 or so. I stopped watching (couldn't stand SPD and onwards), started watching sentai last year and depending on the series, I can't stand PR, or Sentai.
I think RPM's good, but it butchered everything I liked about Go-Onger. It could take itself seriously when it needed to, and while RPM's funny moments were funny, it's serious moments were bland. And the soundtrack sucked, in my honest opinion. Go-Onger however, had an amazing soundtrack, and soundtracks really help make the show.
I hated Gekiranger for poor characters and a blah plot that wasn't serious or joking, but preferred Jungle Fury, being the only Kalish season I can take. It took the plot of Gekiranger, but actually chose a direction at times and not be stagnant on "blah", and handled the characters better... Except whoever White was. He still sucked, but more.

I was with you until you picked Jungle Fury's bad acting and generic music over Gekiranger. I'm not huge on Gekiranger, but...man. Leaps and bounds over Theo, Denise and Rudy.

I've often posted about this before but a big part of the appeal is that Sentai is just so much more sincere and spirited. Plus I just think they are overall just better written, acted, and directed. There's just a better energy to it IMO that just trumps the unintentional blandness of the Americanized version.
Also back in the day I had this thing of where I watched PR and hated it yet I kept wanting to watch it and I figured out that what I keyed into and enjoyed was the idea of the colorful transforming martial arts superhero and other aspects of the thing. I just hated the way PR served it up.
Especially when they would cut away from the middle of fight footage for more Bulk and Skull stuff. I found the Japanese fight footage was often better than any of the U.S. stuff to begin with so having the momentum of the action disrupted in favor of Urkel type antics was really annoying to me.
I had a gut feeling that I would enjoy the original material more so I sought it out and I was very right. Also, Sentai didn't have the convoluted continuity thing because the shows ended (obviously that's something PR later started doing) which goes into the whole "I'm a frog" problem and just the simple fact that I've never been fond of character having more than one superhero origin and power-set.
Granted though there is some leeway there because their power source is more or less from their devices rather than needing to be bit by a radioactive dinosaur or something.
So I give due props for PR being a gateway but PR has never really given me a solid reason to look back and I don't have much of desire to outside of a mild curiosity to see if there's some aspect that was lacking in the original they might find a creative way to improve on with hindsight being 20/20.

In a way yes. While I have watched every season of PR, in recent years their Sentai counterparts influence when I watch them. For instance, I really liked Gekiranger so when Jungle Fury started I watched while it aired. On the other hand I just recently finished RPM, because after I finished Go-onger I just couldn't handle looking at the suit design and mecha anymore.

The episode titles during Kalish's era were in a definite length, increasing by one word after each season until Jungle Fury (SPD stuck to one-word episodes, Mystic Force with 2 words, and so on). But I like the Fox-broadcasted shows better.

I enjoy both, but I would pick Sentai. There's something about it that makes it more enjoyable. I don't know, it's a gut feeling. There's also the respect I have that they (Toei) do it all without resorting to stock footage that they didn't make. I think that makes it a little cooler: Power Rangers has the mecha and cool fights with monsters, Super Sentai actually made them. Finally, Each Sentai still feels a part of the whole Sentai canon. The newer Power Rangers seasons feel different from the earlier seasons.

I enjoy both Power Rangers and Sentai. PR is the American re-telling of the Sentai story. My enjoyment of PR has never decreased because of Sentai. I can enjoy both franchises without problems.

Many people say that they prefer Sentai because the acting is better. While this is true in some cases, there is also a LOT of bad acting in Sentai, but because of the show being in a foreign language, we don't really notice it as much.
The problem in PR, is that the actors often seem like they don't give a damn, and the lines become rather dull. Sentai has the opposite problem, where the actors may try too hard to be dramatic or funny, to a point where they come out as REALLY fake.
Both examples are annoying to me.
