Does Orange Juice *Really* Expire?

Since when has Orange Juice gone Bad Who are we to judge Orange Juice he must first be tried before a Jury of his Peers before being acused of any Crime this is America not Nazi Germany!!!!!!

Here's what you need to do: get some milk and mint syrup. For a bottle of 1.5 liters of orange juice you need to add about 1/6 of milk and add a gulp or two of mint syrup.

The reason is that orange juice starts making acid when opened and over date. The milk will neutralize the acid and the mint syrup will regulate the taste.

Do that and drink the bottle in one big gulp. For greater Justice :buttrock:

PS: the color of the juice might change and it might start bubbling but that's a natural reaction. Also, your pee might be decolored for the next 12 hours. Just go for it man!

I don't mind seeing what expired 3-month-old orange juice looks like...I have this weird image of curdled OJ in my mind somehow and I can't quite get rid of it.:redface2:

Men.... Didn't your mama every teach you anything useful?

At any rate, if there is an expiration date it does not mean the product will suddenly go bad on that date. Food can spoil before the expiration date or well after it. An expiration date is nothing more then a helpful guideline for consumers.

Today is the 21st which means the juice "expired" last week. Is your fridge cold, meaning below 40 degrees Fahrenheit? If it's not most likely the juice is going bad or has gone bad... along with most of the food in your 'fridge whether or not they met their expiration dates or not. In order to properly refrigerate your food, the refrigerator must be set for 40 degrees Fahrenheit or less. If the inside temp is above that... well the food spoils quicker.

If your fridge does not have a thermometer then I suggest buying one. They cost any where from a couple of dollars up to $20 depending on the type you get - analog or digital. I use an analog thermometer simply because it was cheap ($2.50).

So Keith, if your fridge keeps the food cold - near icy conditions - then the juice is ok to drink but if not then don't drink that juice and check the condition of the rest of your food... including the eggs since those have a porous shell. That means your eggs absorb the flavor of inside the fridge over time as it gains more and more air space as the liquid inside evaporates. I kid you not about that.

Totally random but... eggs do go bad over time. The liquid inside evaporates due to the fact the shell is very porous. If I recall my daughter's science experiment, an egg has over 25,000 pores depending on the size of the egg. As eggs become older they will float in salt water (4 tsp salt to 2 cups water). Fresh eggs sink, old eggs float somewhat, really old (bad) eggs will float right to the top.

It doesn't curdle, it turns brown.

Yeah the **** I drank was like... "darkened." But seriously, it's still fine, just drink it.

I was reading thru this the other day but didn't have a chance to respond. lol

I remember I was in the same boat once. Years ago actually. The OJ was about a month passed the expiration date but it tasted fine. I kept smelling it to make sure but It was fine and I didn't get sick. Drink the Juice!
