Doctor Who -Talk Up! (General Discussion)

The Doctor is, and always has been, a sage, and a madman.

"Doctor, the word for Wiseman and Healer... if you keep going the way you are, what will that word come to mean?"

Sorry, couldn´t help it.

Anyways, i barely know this actor, but i do think he can pull it off, he certainly has a Doctor-ish face and i am certainly looking forward to his performance.

Once i stop crying over Matt that is...

As much as I like Matt Smith, I am glad to see him go. He tends to be outshown by his companions wayyy too often for me to care about him. Also his best moments aren't from his acting per say but the way he's written

They are brave for doing this. Very very brave.

The fangirls and tweens already make up a good chunk of the fandom these days, and I fear that the ratings might drop because they no longer have their prettyboy.

I am so happy we are getting an older doctor again. It gives the character a sense of authority, which has really lacked with the younger ones, who has always come off as slightly insecure and angsty.

I can't wait to see what kind of stories he will get.

I love that this new Doctor is older, I think once it's written well people will accept him just like Tennant and Smith. I'm not a big fan of Doctor Who, but I plan on using the 12th Doctor as jumping on point

Good idea and a bad idea. Good idea if you already know the meat and potatoes of the story bad if you don't

Yea, MMPR I know it's a haul but I suggest starting with Christopher Eccelston's series or at least Matt Smith's. They started building a new world with Matt, and havn't looked back, for the most part.

It's not a bad idea to start at the point a new Doctor comes along, even if the circumstances behind the regeneration might be a bit confusing. You can even do that with companions, Ten's and Fourth's come to mind.

When one Doctor leaves, there's very often a change in tone, and in many cases a season is ending with them, so when you start it's more or less like a brand new era. Sure, you'd be missing something, but everyone who started with Eccleston is doing fine.

Add Moffat's stories in Tennent's run as those are relevant to Smith's metaplot.

I'd suggest someone start with Eccleston just because of stories like "The Unquiet Dead", "Dalek" or "Father's Day"..

Just a few of the really awesome serials it had.
