Do some sentai fans hate power rangers?

I think Inui hates power rangers. :P

Yeah, some sentai fans do hate power rangers. They're all like "america ruined sentai!! blah blah blah" but it doesn't really matter, everyone has their own tastes & opinions, but to answer your question, yes, some do.

I think the problem is that they treat it like a dub when its more like an adaption. Some old school fans believe that the reason why the new sentai fans like the new sentai series that the old gen fans hate so much is becuase they grew up on power rangers which is them is PC and candy coated.

I dont hate PR, I dont think I can ever "hate" PR. I just can't watch it anymore. And believe me, I tried. Watched Dino Thunder and Ninja Storm and I liked them both. Watch a few eps of MF and half of OO and couldnt stand it. I guess you can say I dont like the newer PR. But I dont like some of the old ones too. Zeo was a bit boring, while Turbo and Lightspeed rescue sucked IMO.

Every time I comment on this issue, Im refered to as a "Sentai fan who just hates PR now" or my favorite: "Sentite". I admit, Im a huge Sentai fan, sentai and KR are f*in awesome. And Im not sure if I can go back to watching PR. maybe when Im bored, but I have found something better and I dont regret it. I will check out JF since it is rumored to be the last PR season and I love Gekiranger. I will always give PR a chance, but its just that I have been a bit disappointed as of late. I know it sounds stupid since this is a kids show. But, the shows that I referred to in my previous post dont get old for me, no matter how many times I watch them. So, I guess thats just how I am.

Sorry I dragged this on a bit, just had to get some of that out.

I don't blame, the new seasons suck, a lot of PR fans think this also.

I can never hate Power Rangers, I got nothing but respect for it since it introduced America to Sentai. The only series I watched as a whole was Dekaranger, and it's my favorite from what I've seen. I admit I was one of those people who thought Sentai was a "Japanese Power Rangers" until I looked the series up and was shocked to find out that Power Rangers wasn't original.:O_O: MMPR will always be classic to me.

I thought Yoffy hated the opening of S.P.D., not the series itself xD

Yeah, some sentai fans hate Power Rangers. This is a fact. And as x1xBladex1x said, everyone has their own tastes and opinions. :P

What did he say about S.P.D.? The opening was pretty corny though.

To be brutally honest with you, I don't feel much has changed since the Saban era, but that's just me.

Now this is all my opinion so I hope no one takes offense but PR under Disney has done a remarkably good job at cutting the crap that doesn't fit a Western audience out from the Sentai and replacing it.

To note, I don't recall an episode of Operation Overdrive that featured the annoying child plot. You know the plot where the rangers have to deal with some kid who's somehow vitally important to the plot for that one episode only and is never seen again.

Where as Boukenger had several from what I remember:
-The fox kit (with really bad make-up job).
-Sakura chasing that kid for a gem thief thing.
-Peach boy (which I know is a cultural legend but I'm still counting it)
-Natsuki's sister sort of.
-Sakura going Rambo (in truly laughingly bad fashion) to save some children.

The ONE kid that I actually wanted to see re-appear in the series, the princess I think, whose life Souta ruined, NEVER did.

In contrast you look at Time Force which gave us "Bodyguard in Blue" which I desperately wanted to hit someone for and Wild Force gave us Kite who was more or less a direct translation of his Sentai counterpart. *shudders*

I don't mind the daughter in Geki she has a point and is a good recurring character (and a better actor then Jan IMO) but I really hope they avoid that particular character for Jungle Fury.

This is true. The only reason why I got into Sentai is cuz of PR. Years ago, my little cousin (of all people) told me that it was made in Japan. He saw it on some special, guess it was the Lost Episode thing hosted by ASJ and Walter Jones. But, I didnt start looking for it till about a year and a half ago. So, it does provide a gateway, its just that PR doesnt give any clear signs telling you that its from Japanese Sentai. The only evidences of this is the Lost Episode special and Lost and Found in Translation.

Wow, this is like the totally opposite of how I see it. But its all good. I think that the PRiS - TF seasons are the real "Golden Age" of PR. Sure MMPR is classic and it was a ginormous phenomenon back in 93-95. But, PRiS - TF seasons had the best stories and characters. I mean, those seasons were probably the closest that PR has come to being as kick-ass as Sentai. I know that PRiS and Lost Galaxy were better than some Sentai that I have seen. There was still the humor and a bit of goofiness needed to keep kids tuned in. But the stories really kept you involved and wanting to see the next episode for what happens next. I mean, come on, Countdown To Destruction was by far the best ending I have seen. The writing was great.

After that period, not much advancements were made in the story and character department. Only an upgrade in graphics (mostly from sentai) and bigger bangs.
I agree wholeheartedly.

Not to mention how PR is 80% Sentai, 20% Explosions

Your typical middle of the run episode of PR:

No, I didn't think the opening theme song to SPD was corny. The reason why is because it was the final opening theme song ever to be compose by our good friend and favourite PR Music composer, Ron Wesserman and believe me....I happened to be a big RW Fan.

But yeah, some of the fans say they hate the Power Rangers and would start to riot because of their beliefs of senseless "Butchering" of an excellent live-action show in Japan turn to major "Bullshit" in the U.S. while most fans would say, "Why not dub the entire Super Sentai series in english, instead?!"

Me....I am one of the elder generations who grew up watching the Power Rangers as a kid since MMPR came on the air, now watch the Super Sentai Series. I am not saying that I "hate" the Power Rangers in general, but I don't this kind of direction that the show itself is going to, since the end of Power Rangers Wild Force.
