Did Kamen rider series died for you after kabuto

Clearly a difference in preferences.

You say 25 stories/50 episodes = easy marathoning

I say Id rather watch 25 stories for 25 episodes...and then watch 25 more.

Why would I complain that I get to see more stories told than waste an a hour of my life for a story they could tell just as well in half that time?

And again, it's just me not really digging waiting for another episode just to resolve what is essentially kid's show. I think 2 parters are best left for game changing storylines and development. Not a padded, fluffed up, overstretched arc.

And I know theyll probably stick to the 2 part storytelling device for a looooong time. I just wish itd go back to Showa-style 1 episoders and tell more stories in the same span of 51 episodes.

i really hate this trend on W: monster appears, W battles, monster lives another week due to akiko forcing slapstick comedy with her slipper...>:(

What are you talking about? There were NO episodes where a Dopant escaped because of Akiko's slippers. W was just the start of the current approach that monster-of-the-week characters won't be killed if they are or look human (I count OOO in this since all the Yummy victims survived. Obviously there were two exceptions in W: the Grasshopper and Magma Dopants)

How about if Toei took a Dairanger approach to the upcoming Wizard? Two-three-four parters broken up by a couple of standalone episodes, all the while having a continuous plotline like in early Heisei? That could work, and they could still cut down on costume costs with a fewer number of monsters.

I'm cool with that format to, especially since DaiRanger is my favorite Sentai series of all time.

And Kuroro, what difference does it make if it is well written (which W was)? The problem is a lot of these series, while they are 50 episodes, do not need to be more than 40 half the time. Hell, if 555 and Kabuto had only been 40 episodes, they would have had good endings compared to the train wreck of plots thrown into the last 8 episodes for each series.

This would be pretty cool and interesting. I'd like to see this one day.

Why cant it be both well written AND plentiful?

Kamen Rider series start and end, and outside some movies, that's it. So Id like it if the finite amount of time I can enjoy with these characters and worlds had more stories than 25 padded ones.

I just feel that the recent 2 parters, while many are great, can possibly be told in one concise episode per week. But now, they are clearly written with the intention to last 2 episodes which is why sometimes I can feel that parts of those episodes are just fluff. Nothing against the series writers, I love their work, but 2 parters that are the norm just really make me feel like Im being dragged around for a story that I can watch in just one go instead of waiting 2 weeks to resolve.

I feel that the abomination that was the Kabuto series didnt fail because it lasted as long as it did. It's because Yonemura is a terrible writer and the episodes were simply just garbage. He couldve done Kabuto in 31 episodes, 2 parters or not, and itd still be crap.

And on another personal note, I dislike 2 parters because it gives me a week to ponder and come up with all these theories and stuff, and then when the story resolves, it's almost always never the way I imagined it and I end up a tad disappointed. Im weird like that.

Love it

Besides Dairanger being my favorite Sentai (seems to be that way for a lot of people), this seems like it would be the perfect idea. Not to mention after Kujaku's appearance, the show took a tone for the darker, and thus it got better. This goes for Liveman and Jetman as well (although good Gah, Liveman and it's super darkness made me yearn for something lighter...for about 5 minutes. Straight to Jetman!).
I honestly hate Fourze with a passion now, and I generally like all of the Kamen Rider series, Decade being one of them (I feel the torches and pitchforks already). Fourze just went too silly/wacky after Cosmic states debuted, and it's been unwatchable since. Don't get me wrong, a little comedy here and there is a good thing for a Sentai/Rider series. But Fourze over does it almost every episode, and they're really not helping with Yuki. I have never hated a character more. I actually really liked Den-O even though it was mostly a comedic series, but it was done correctly.
I want Kamen Rider to go back to something Kabuto-esque, maybe Kiva (another two series I really liked) although Kiva's past story lines were better than the present ones. From what a lot of posts are saying, I should go watch Ryuki. I cannot stress how much I love a good dramatic toku, ala Dairanger or most of Kabuto. I mean, after a little while, you had to start keeping a body count because so many people started dying, and drama is what makes a good series in most cases. I'm hoping that Wizard goes back to the early roots of Kamen Rider and returns as a drama instead of keeping with the light-heartedness of W on.

I actually think that whole formula died when they introduced decade! I wished they'd bring some of that old heisei formula back but I can see they wanted to do something different with the next decade of Riders and you can totally see it with Fourze, etc. . .

. . . OOO did kindah ruined it for me though! The last time I actually enjoyed a rider series was Kiva, suit design and all!

Is it me, or do people that tend to really like Kiva a lot tend to hate OOO and vice versa?

What's up with that?
