As Nightwing, he teamed up with his peers to combat injustice in the Titans and the Outsiders. Now, Dick Grayson faces the most important battle of his life. Batman is dead. The Mantle of the Bat must be passed, but it will require all of Dick's training and skills to carry out the last wishes of Bruce Wayne and protect Gotham City. Stunt or no, it would be interested to see how Dick would handle the role of Batman.

If this will be anything like the time Jean-Paul Valley (Azrael) replaced Bruce, then we know that he'll be back eventually. Even if he dpesn't come back, then I can't think of anyone better to become the new Batman.

I can't help but think DC is only doing this because of what Marvel did with Captain America. The difference is that Cap's death was handled well and this ... well, this seems more like an imminent train wreck.

Well Batman's death is more of a steady build up to an anticipated reveal, rather than immediate wow factor. Then again thats how DC and Marvel are usually when it comes to major story lines. DC goes for the build up, Marvel has the wow factor. Well at least Batman's death might be something grand you'd except to see for a major hero's death, not something as meager as a gunshot. Then again Cap's death does make you stop and remember that most of these super heroes can be killed by normal means like a gunshot.

I wouldn't mind seeing Azrael return. Not as Batman, of course...but still.

But if Dick's the new Batman, who takes on the Nightwing identity? Tim? Jason Todd(yeah, right)? Someone new?
