This really comes as a great shock to me. Carradine always seemed like a down-to-earth, if cocky, guy that was happy doing what he did. Very surprising and tragic indeed. When I read the article it just said "suspected suicide by hanging," but the rope around the neck and genitals thing sounds more like autoerotic asphyxiation. Of course, the Thai police could have just completely made that up. They've been known to do that.

... I'm not saying that and it's doubtful that that's what happened, I just mean that the Royal Thai Police are somewhat notorious for fabricating (or disappearing) evidence, exaggerating stories to play up media coverage, or coming through with some remarkable bit of impossible-to-find witness or piece of information at the last second. It could be true, and it was just a fatal masturbation accident, or it could be untrue and he just plain old vanilla killed hisself. That kind of thing happens, like it or not, and I think people go out of their way to find another explanation because they don't like to think about it.
