So every year i like to partake in some creative challange that test's my mettel , just to test myself.
This year i have decided to forge at least one Costume totally from sctrach for convention's and such only made out of material's that i ether already have, can get for free or can buy for under 5 dollar's.
It took me a long time (ok, like a hour) to figure on a character to make up a costume for that would fit a cheapo material's budget. I started looking at some used coat's think that i might try to modify it into some character from Naruto....but i figured that would be too easy, so i started looking at some mecha, and got a few good idea's, and it all boiled down to one of two things..
or
SO in the end, i selected for my Subject............
SHOCKWAVE!
Why? Well for one he is fairly angular (very budget friendly) and because he is one of my favorite Transformers.
Anyway, after much calling around i was ale to procure a steady supply of large cardboard boxes. It's no Craft Foam or Costume Plastic Panel's, but cardboard is dirt cheap (well, in this case free) and the double thick stuff i got is fairly sturdy.
Anyway, here is how far along i am right now:
This is the Head and Upper Chest. It is still very early on, so no paint or fine detail's yet (Like his Eye, Fin's, Adornments...). The tape is temporary until the combination of Adhesive's and tab's fully set's.
The one fact that is bugging me now is the front. You see, Shockwave has this light purple "Plate" in the center of his chest, and it's shape varies from continuity to continuity. It's usually Flat or pointed, and i went with the pointed type. My worry is that it won't look all that great or accurate once i get the bottom of the chest finished on on. But i could always trim it down and go flat if it look off.
Also, i might have already made my shoulder paldron's. You see the head you see in that first picture was NOT the first head i made for this project, i made up another before it.... and well:
It was far too large that it should have been. I messed up with the measurements and ended up with something that would have been almost going beyond my shoulders. the fact it didn't fit on my head only compounded the problem. So i made the new head that rather than being a full-on helmet will be a mask instead.
So i plan to cut the old head in twain, mod it a little and see if i can make it into my suit's shoulder armor.
Thats all for now people, i must rest.....
