Sunrise also thought Geass, 00 and their recent Tales of the Abyss adaptations were good ideas too.

A Code Geass adaptation will also be good but may they pick the right men and women in the productions.

Sort of but no dice. Try taking a class on this stuff, its pretty well known in the film business that the generalization of Japan rolls like that. Hell its even obvious just by looking at their box office and reviews. See one of the basic things you learn in even a 100 level class is the audience of different regions. Each region has a different generalized taste (Now before you go off ranting as per usual its a generalization. Thus meaning its the majority not every single person), for Japan usually they do not prefer something strongly written with complex characters like Sandman for example. Usually the Japan audience prefers basic story lines with simple and unfleshed out characters that stick just to the basic archetype. And usually the industry will adjust to please the majority audience. Keyword here is usually, there are always exceptions when there is a well written story with complex characters coming from Japan. Examples include: Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Hokuto no Ken, and Mushishi.

To put it in simple terms, the majority of audiences in different regions want different elements from their movies. And even some countries audiences do not want certain ideas or concepts in their films while another countries audience welcomes it.
