Console Opinions as of Now.

This generation turned out inside out from my expectation.

I expected PS3 to be on top with no real competition, Wii to be a minor distraction and mostly a joke, and the 360 to be struggling with its second place spot.

360 - They pretty much did everything right for me. I got an Elite so no worries on red ringing, the game line-up is full of must have and play games for me. With the HD-DVD player...... I turn on my 360 at least once a day. For all I need out of a console, it's jam packed. The last console I thought I'd give a crap about ended up being the best value for my buck this generation. I can't muster sentimental attachment to it like I did my Dreamcast, but the game line up, quality at my finger tips, and the ability to bring together online gatherings with people from my website is simply incredible.

PS3 - I fanboy hate on Sony for mostly fun. I have no *real* vested interest in how any of 'em do. Just in what I like and can afford. PS3 is not even a blip on my radar for interest tho. No games I really want, none that would warrant the price point, and no functionality that I really need. HOME's unproven, game line-up has only Drake's Fortune that I'd want and from what I hear, I can live with out it easily. Only things I might ever want are White Knight, Final Fantasy XIII, aaannd... maybe Star Ocean? Otherwise, I'm near slack jawwed and confused on how emty the PS3 is of anything I'd want or need. All PS3 has in my eyes is future potential and when that future comes... I'll consider it.

Wii - If you check out the Picture Thread, you'll see that this cute lil' toy makes already cool parties into fucking awesome parties. It's a party machine, pure and simple to me. What it's got and offers is just party gaming, and still... that's not sayin' nothing. I love it. My mom and my sister love it. Great for what it is, but for real gaming... it's not something I really sit down and just enjoy.

360- Great machine. Has all the games I currently want to play and even more are coming that I cant wait for.

ps3- Dont own one. It doesnt have any games Im interested in and the price makes sure that I wont have one unless someone makes that purchase for me. It iwll probably get better down the road. All PS systems have a shaky start.

Wii- It's just a party system. A year since it's release and only a few games worth buying have come out for it. And those games feel a generation too late. they are not games that revolutionize or bring new elements to the table. They are the same stuff you've played 8 years ago.

Pretty much it feels like Nintendo already lost. I dont even consider the Wii as a console anymore, I only see PS3 and Xbox on the market at this point. Wii feels like a smaller, lesser system.

I want Nintendo to be better and do great in the market. But Nintendo alone cant support itself. You can only wait 4-6 years for a zelda game for so long before you say "why the hell bother".

Without third party support, Nintendo is gone. And that third party support is with Sony and Microsoft.

Sigh...

Not a console gamer, period. I did own a Wii since the day after Thanksgiving, 2006, but I've already completed Twilight Princess and sold it. Blah.

100% PC Gamer, all the way.

I'm a portable gamer myself :D I'm plenty satisfied with my DS.

My sister does have a Wii and playing WiiPlay pool and shooting can be really fun! I can't wait for Brawl and No More Heroes. The Wii's got potential that the developpers just aren't taking quite yet.

I played Gears of Wars once (and as usual I sucked ><) and I only know one person who has a PS3 and I nevr played it myself. I'm not the best person for an opinion on this matter I guess...

DS FOREVER!!

still fucking waiting for DQ4-DS. Any fucking day Japan. Im sick of those assholes not porting the good games over here.

360: I have a love/hate relationship with this machine. I love it for it's games, Xbox Live, Live Arcade. I hate it for it's bugginess. I'm currently on my third 360 and this one has a strange glitch where I have to open the disc drive and close it everytime I want to play a game. If I just boot up the game when it's already in the disc drive, it will lock up.

Still it's my console of choice for this cycle. It gets the most games that I want to play. It lets me chit-chat with my friends in person, including a guy I consider my best friend on the internet, yet we knew each other for eight years before we ever heard each other's voices. It gave me Rumble Roses XX, the ultimate guilty-pleasure game for me. It's become my favorite console of all-time.. that wasn't from Sega.

PS3: I view the PS3 in this cycle the same way I regarded the original Xbox, last time around. It has a few titles of interest to me but not enough to get me to buy the machine. At least not at the current price. Like the original Xbox, I'll probably wait until the PS3 is in it's last years and get it once it's marked down to under $200. Then I'll just get used copies of the handful of titles that interested me.

Wii: I just got this for Christmas. It's actually my first Nintendo console since the NES. Playing Mario and Zelda again felt like revisiting old friends. I always thought the motion-sensing was a cool gimmick but I've been amazed at just how natural the controls have felt.

The Virtual Console is great. Catching up on all those Nintendo games that I missed during my years as a Sega fanboy. I also got to see for myself why John from TFL loves those Turbo Graphix games so much.

I don't see the Wii beating the 360 as my console of choice. But it serves as a complimentary alternative. It helps mix my gaming up, a little bit. Ditto for the DS.

I don't own a 360 and I don't intend to. Halo, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, etc titles don't really interest me at all. All my friends own a 360 and I'm usually over their house just playing around with the system sometimes and it just doesn't impress me at all. Lost Planet was the game that made me want a 360 but they're porting that over to the PS3 so there goes that.

I own the original Playstation 1 and Playstation 2 and have had very good experiences with them so of course I will own the Playstation 3 down the road. But for now, there are no titles for it and that is what's keeping me from buying the damn thing. I finished Heavenly Sword last week in a couple of hours and the only thing cool about it were the graphics. The day MGS4 and FFXIII drop is the day I'm picking it up.

The Wii? NO MORE HEROES

the great thing about the wii are the controls (controller). They really are smooth. Much more responsive than what you might imagine.
