Classic American Toku Talk-Up

Captain Power?

If you put aside the fact that it's from the 80's.. yes it is.

They killed LOTS of people. I mean PHYSICALLY ON SCREEN KILLINNGs although they called them something else.

Hell the end of the only season of the series, they point-blank KILLED off a main character on screen in VERY dramatic fashion.

It was called digitizing, they were stored in a massive computer. I wouldn't say they were killed though because in the first ep they undigitized one of Powers old friends.

But Pilot was dead though, she blew up the base in order to stop Dread from getting it's secrets.

Been rewatching it on Veoh. A lot of times you kinda look at it and go this was a kid show back in the day

YES, a very, VERY dark kids show. And those people were dead, lets be real here.

I remember the name Mystic Knights but I can't actually remember the show. After seeing a picture, I can remember sitting in my room & watching it in the mornings, but I can't remember the story line, the ending or anything really. But I remember how it was just the most awesome thing at the time. Well to me anyway. lol

& What about The Tatooed Teenage Alien Fighters from beverly hills? Wasn't that a toku? I mean it did have special effects & stuff after all.

You know what, I'm going to lay some ground rules for this thread.
First it can't be anything you like it has to have some common themes with toku to count. Captain Power would count, Mystic Knights would also, and Tatooed Alien Fighters would count. Also if it was adapted then it counts just because. Also if you decide to bring up a show like say for example Smallvile give a reason why you think it counts as a type of American toku. That is all by the guy who started this thread. and have fun.

TTAF is something I'd rather erase from the face of TV history.

It's... that.... bad...

It made Lazer Tag (The live action Show for those keeping score) look really, GOOD and interesting.

There was another live action show back in the 80's. All I remember is centered around a kid, running from aliens? I think, it had a spaceship of sort and the kid held a gem or something?

Anybody else remember what I'm talking about?

 Nope, I wasn't even alive during the 80's.

Ah yes, the VR Troopers!! Such an awesome and underrated show at the time!!

Good thing we UKians (OK, that sounded cheesy) have VR Troopers on Budget DVD. It's just a shame they won't release the 2nd season. The storyline was pretty good but it's a shame the finale was a bit naff. Infact, it wasn't really a finale episode really.

Superhuman Samurai SyberSquad/CyberSquad/whatever you want to call it. Nothing special buy yeah it was pretty fun to watch.

But Masked Rider was awful. URRRRGGGGHHHH!!

And Beetleborgs sucked no matter what SkyKnight thinks.

Yeah... beetleborgs weren't all that great. lol The thing I remember most about it was the girl bettleborg starred in a casper movie. & as far as Masked Rider, BACK THEN I thought it was cool & stuff, but now after watching some of the new Kamen Riders....masked rider sucked! & I bet the Dragon Knight won't be that good either, but I'm still going to give it a chance.
