- Titan Boy: On One hand, I'm glad it had some trouble in its debut fight and isn't as overpowered as SaiDaiOh was (hated that thing). (I also loved how it cut back to Mess watching Flash Titan change into Titan Boy and going "Whhhooooooooooaaaa!" :laugh
On the other, it reminds me too much of Rock'em:Sock'em Robots for me to take too seriously.
- Great Titan is a monstrosity, though; it should burn.

I don't see how Great Titan is a "monstrosity", it's not overly burdened or needlessly complex in its design, it's just really really big.
Personally though, the best part of this portion of the series was that stretch where the team had to figure out ways of defeating the monsters without blowing them up so they wouldn't get turned into giants. That was really fun.

I do cut 80's Sentai a lot of slack considering ~time periods~ but, I can't bring myself to like the robot.
This, I agree with. It's very refreshing to see, especially after coming from the land of 1000 Mecha (aka, 2000's Sentai shows).

Watching episode 20 and what exactly was the big deal with the girl Dai was chasing? I'm tempted to say it was Earth Force but, wrong show. :laugh:
Also, how was the monster effecting Flash King that they couldn't fix it? Was it sending out sound waves after it absorbed the civilians or something?

They have a mysterious connection that gets a kinda weirdo explanation later on. For now, the others speculate that either the girl has ESP or a connection to the Flash planets, while Dai thinks that she's his sister.

Man, 21 was f'ed up. I liked it but, dang...
A couple things I would mention is that:
- I was heavily reminded of the Dairanger idol episode which followed a similar concept and also had a toku cameo.
- It also brought up a good point in that people on the ground during mech fights are gonna get hurt; I know toku and disbelief and whatnot but, when you have two gigantic things kicking each other's butts, others might wanna evacuate the area.

Episode 21 scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. Even now, I think it's a really weird episode. It has such an eerie atmosphere to it, and the episode barely uses any BGM, which causes more of an uncomfortable feeling. And I remember it being weird to see Hayate get so messed up. :laugh:
The episode's writer, Michiru Shimada, is a big anime writer from what I've read, and this episode is the only episode of not just Flashman, but any toku that she ever wrote for. I've always imagined that the Flashman staff saw this episode, freaked at how screwed up the content was, and was like "Ooooooooooookay, we'll call you, don't call us."

Going off of her ANN profile, it seems currently she'd be behind the "Little Busters" anime which... from everything my friends have told me about the Visual Novel source, I can't see it going anywhere near what this episode turned out to be.
Then again, I dunno --- maybe said Visual Novel has a Bad Ending where a kid's brother turns into some giant bio-monster that eats everyone at the school? :laugh:
