Sadly, bad timing is what hurt Ohranger as much as I personally enjoy it.

I think Baranoia is a better villain that Bandora or Konshinki, Jr. At least they're not putting on random crazy concerts to announce they will take over the world lol. I like how their invasion comes across as more threatening and showed more direct portrayals of civilian harm (though not to the severity of Jetman where you see civilians killed).

I really thought the action was quite intense and exciting. Plus, I've always been a fan of Sato Tamao, who plays OhPink, or Maruo Momo. Also, Niji Iro Crystal Sky is a sweet BGM song.

Well of course Riki is important. For all the reasons you mentioned.

Should he have been a part of the team? I dunno. Guess the writers chose not to do that with him. As for being featured in all the eps, nah. I think the other five are more fun to watch (though Riki is fine too).

From the way it came off, it seemed like Riki was a last-minute addition to boost ratings. Much like OhBlocker and TackleBoy. Dragonranger, Kibaranger, Kurokishi, and TimeFire weren't part of the main team but they were written with a definite purpose. (Though you could say Dragonranger fulfilled his purpose once his one arc was complete and did little since.) Riki just appears randomly. They never even try to get information about the Pangean civilization from him or how they can defeat Baranoia. Riki never adapts to the modern lifestyle as far as wardrobe goes. (Something I didn't like in Zyu or Ginga either). He's more or less neglected as a character.

I like how BaraGoblin (looks more like a mutated wolf than a goblin) behaves like a savage animal that Keris controls with a whip. Keri's robot form though leaves something to be desired.

The former probably has to do with the Aum Shinrikyo scandal that dogged the show throughout its production. The story goes that Aum Shinrikyo's founder believed he had been given superhuman powers/authority/etc by a Pangean super-civilization, which lead the networking airing Ohranger to ask Toei to downplay that aspect of the show in the wake of sarin gas attacks.

One thing I really liked with Zeo was how they gave Adam the boxing gimmick just to fit in with OhGreen`s fighting style.

Yeah, Riki did appear quite late. So you're probably right.

And yeah, that Aum Shinrikyo thing might've hurt Riki too. What a shame. :disappoin

I still think Riki was cool for what offered at least though.
