Can't decied which Kamen Rider to watch

I totally forgot to state why. :sweat:

Black is the Kamen Rider of the Decade.

X is awesome. It's got a good story and Jin Keisuke is awesome.

555 is a drama about good and evil, responsibility, and change. It also features one of the greatest Kamen Riders of all time, Faiz.

Ryuki is a drama about people who fight for life. They fight to save others who will die, they fight to protect others, they fight for themselves, and most important, they fight to survive.

Double is the Kamen Rider of the decade. It incorporates elements from previous Kamen Rider series, but it takes a much more modern approach. In Kamen Rider Double, the meaning of Kamen Rider is rediscovered.

ZO (movie) is the story of a man whose mission is to protect a boy from a powerful being that adapts and becomes stronger during its existence. It's good because of ZO himself.

J (movie) is the story of a man who encounters alien life forms that attempt to destroy life on Earth. Through the powers of the Earth itself, he fights the threat to protect his homeworld and everyone in it. It's a good story and J is great.

For like the 1000th time. DCD does NOT give a person ANY idea how ANY other KR series is. I fail to understand why people keep saying that about DCD.

Anyway. Some one said to watch a few ep1's. I agree with that.

As far as recommendations go, I would suggest going with either Kuuga or Black and Black RX since they're pretty fairly well known and well liked by the toku community

I'd also suggest that you stay clear of Decade until you get your bearings with the series and just plain steer clear of Den-O all together, but that's a given


I really don't see what dated and easily overlooked CGI has to do with weighing down a show's plot

Neither do I. I watched Kuuga live as a child, and I didn't give a damn, because Kuuga was such a damn good show. There are people however, that do care about the quality of the CGI and associate it with the quality of the show. Which it obviously doesn't.

If you're searching for dark and realistic and fantastic action, then Kuuga is for you. Then you can just go in order and see the evolution of Rider from Kuuga to OOO

This question comes up so often, I want to make a guide.

I'd say try a couple of episode 1's, see which one interests you the most, and go with that. You can then go back and check out the others, because there's a lot to look forward to. Every Rider series is worth watching at least once.

Agreed about them 1. episode try-out.

My opinion- go for Kuuga, the show that revived this franchise.

It's true. DCD gives a general overview of Kamen Rider in terms of aesthetic, tone and message. But it doesn't delve into specific series so much as just make KR newbie watchers curious about them.

Which is why it works as an intro.

I was watching Kamen Rider Decade, but gave up around ep 18 because it has gotten pretty bored. I'm watching Double right now and it has everything I'm looking for in a KR show: interesting characters, funny dialogues, cool henshin and awesome powers with the Gaia Memories. Heck, even the villains seemed better than average. I think I'll finish this series first before going back to Decade, or start with OOO.

Actually Igadevil had a better suggestion in the last HJU Radio podcast than watching just Decade.

"Watching All Riders vs. Dai-Shocker is the best way to get some1 into the Kamen Rider franchise" was Igadevil's suggestion.......................

And for some reason, that makes more damn sense than making some1 watch all 31 episodes (plus All Riders & Movie Wars) of Kamen Rider Decade.
