The odd bit of joking around is usually considered to be okay, so long as it doesn't detract from the original purpose of the thread. If there are indeed, threads that have posts like the ones you describe where said posts needlessly take the thread off-topic (the way that you and RX were doing with this one), then someone should/would have used the REPORT icon to alert the staff about it. People here have another thing coming if they think that all of us staff members check out every single thread in every single section of the forum 24/7.

If the staff is alerted to a situation like this, and if we all agree that the situation warrants it, then action will be taken. A storeowner has no right to complain about how many times his shop gets broken into if he refuses to call the police or identify the punks who did it. The staff here CAN and WILL take action on behaviour like this, but considering how many threads there are here, we can only do it if we know that it's happening. Consequently we can only know that it's happening if we see it ourselves (the way that I saw the argument between yourself and RX), or if someone reports it.

A single post here or there likely won't do that, whereas a series of posts that show a definitive, "off-topic" argument can. As I said before, as long as it doesn't detract from the original purpose of the thread, then it will likely be considered okay.

For your latter example, if you're referring to the thread about Faiz and Keith meeting up for the first time, well...that's pretty much the purpose that thread has adopted. Considering the fact that no one has (presumably) been making posts complaining about it or sending the people involved PMs asking them to stop said behaviour, there wouldn't appear to be any reason to take any action.

I'm not talking about a post here and there in some isolated thread, I'm talking about pages of in-jokes between mods and members that are not related to the topic directly. People have to "talk around" those just like they would have to do if an argument was going on. Honestly, if you haven't noticed Fayt, Keith, and Faiz constantly joking with Faded, then maybe you're too busy to be a mod.
