Batman: Gotham Knight (New DTV movie coming up)

I thought it was great, different episodes for different fans.

Personally I thought the second episode was the best, just the way you see him in the fire. Just wow.

I had no idea this anime/dvd was out. I plan on looking for it at the stores but downloaded it just so I could watch it, in the event I cant find it today. Looking forward to it.

The DVD is not out yet, it leaked onto Rapidshare a couple weeks ago and it leaked onto limewire 2 months ago.

JoJo Bruce, Light Bruce, and Fat Batman was kind of weird to see

You know what would've been crazy? If they added in the animated theme song! Or the theme song from Mask of the Phantasm! That'd be so sweet!

This movie/anime/thing sucked. Glad I didnt commit to a purchase. Just way overhyped. The stories themselves just felt pointless and mundane. Wasnt really captured by any of the stories. Nice animation, though.

From what I saw this never had any hype xD

sorry about posting a direct link, overall it was enjoyable, 6 stories seemed very short to me though

the animatrix had at least 10 i think, and it was 100 or so minutes long, this one just ran through like nothing, the animation was cool and hearing kevin conroy again was nice though

In terms of the animation and design there were really only 3 out of the 6 segments that I liked. Working Through Pain and Dead Shot with Field Test being my personal favorite design wise. The colors kinda of bothered me but then I've never been big on Batman being washed out in browns and dull greys.

To me Field Test really took the "Batman as anime" thing and ran with it the most. There was a clear Science Ninja vibe going on to the look of him that the Gatchaman fan in me particuarly appreciated. This did the best of generating Batman as an anime character from the ground up where as Dead Shot was nice for being an anime experiment in adapting the look of Batman as he is in modern comics.

Now, why I only liked a few of the segments in terms of animation and design there are things that I enjoyed about the overall story. Going into it I was afraid that it being a DTV and "anime" would just end up being a cheap excuse for basically making Batman a hyperviolent jackass and doing a lot of gratuitous stuff. I really, really liked though that they were exploring some of the characters core motivations and how this isn't all about revenge. In particular I liked the touches that dealt with how much Bruce utterly loathes guns.

In Working Through Pain what I liked most is that it showed that Bruce is not capable of just standing by while someone is being harmed, even in this case where he knew good and well that she would feel no pain. This is key. Because it it were just about revenge for him why go through all the trouble of trying to protect people and fight a war on crime when he could have just found Joe Chill, choked his life out with his barehands and have been done with it already?

I really respect they were trying to do something that spoke back to the characters moral and emotional core rather than just a heavy focus on being bloody and "badass".

I got it tonight. And I watched the whole 6 different stories. Now, I'm not a fan of Anime, not my favorite, but depend on which show, like Digimon and Dragon Ball. Anyway, here's my review:

HAVE I GOT A STORY FOR YOU - That one sucked worse than I thought. Absolutely garbage. 'LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT' is definitely better than this one. One of my favorite DCAU's Batman episode.

CROSSFIRE - It was great, lil bit boring. Could've a lot better. Batman's mask is okay, reminds me of Batman Forever / Batman & Robin's Batman cowl mask II.

FIELD TEST - I loved this one. Definitely better than last two. Loved the cowl and cape. Mostly like 89's Batman and 92's Batman Returns suit. Great story. Also, I liked when they put Batman Begins/The Dark Knight's Batmobile in this episode.

IN DARKNESS DWELLS - I loved this one as well! Batman's face and mask reminds me of Batman Begins. Here's the pic:

Great story!! Easily one of my favorite episode.

WORKING THROUGH PAIN - So it's a part 1 then. I thought it was great. Definitely good story in it. Plus, my favorite Batmobile from 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns in this short episode. That makes me so happy! :) Also, I liked Cassaundra. Very interesting character.

DEATHSHOT - This one is awesome. Great fight on the train.

So, I have to say this: IN DARKNESS DWELLS is one of the best short episode ever.

Great movie. So Wonder Woman The Animated Movie is coming in 2009. Couldn't wait too long but heck, atleast we get to see more Super-heroes coming up in 2009, like WOLVERINE THE MOVIE.

I expected more from most of the shorts, In Darkness Dwells is easily the best one out of them all and it did feel very much like an episode of Batman TAS.
