OMG.:O_O:
I can't even believe that they're bring Bruce Wayne back from the dead, but I was expecting to be more like a Batman Beyond moment right here.
When it comes to the most famous characters like these, Licensing is the enemy of progress.
DC Comics' licensors want the same old Bat. Batman cannot change, ever. Things are going to stay exactly the same. In less than a year, when things look like they end, things also go back to normal, which cheapens the impact of the last story, making it look like a desperate, prima-donna publicity stunt.
More than once, it happened to Superman, it happened to Batman, it happened to Spider-Man, it happened to Captain America, etc. In most cases, Licensing will never allow Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker, Steve Rogers, etc., to ever change, age, die, marry*, etc.,
They're just corporate entities.
And these things have happened to Godzilla and Ultraman, too! The two most licensed characters in Japan. When Godzilla epically dies in movies after the first, Toho stipulates that the filmmakers HAVE to show him coming back to life somehow. And the Ultra Family is not allowed to die.
Ever.
If all the above characters were creator-owned, that would be very different.
*=Some Spidey titles (not ALL of them, mind you), including the newspaper strip, show him still married to Mary Jane Watson (who knows his secret identity). Others show him being the same outcast teenager he started out as, for licensing purposes. Licensors want the more famous outcast teenage nerd Peter Parker, not the current married man.
