In a way, Mikoto's death kinda reminds me of the death of Mazenda and Kemp from Liveman. All of them commit several unforgivable deeds, to the point where one would be crazy to ever think of forgiving them.
In fact, one of the things that I love about Abaranger is how Ryouga spends the entire season changing Mikoto's heart. In fact, Mikoto tries to break Ryouga's mind throughout the season and ultimately fails in the end. Instead, Ryouga manages to turn Mikoto over to the side of good.
And like Mikoto says, it's rather "ironic" that he'd die just when he finally felt like wanting to live. Live and work for the rest of his life to try and be forgiven. But sadly, he won't ever get the chance now, as his actions really bite back at him in the end. Much like Kemp and Mazenda who in the very end, want to live and make things right, but will die and not get the chance to start their path towards redemption.
Which is why some villains like Obular from Liveman and Igam from Maskman are lucky (Even Mazenda tells Gou this herself). They have the chance to start a path of redemption by trying to do things like help people and pray via religion.
