NBC's "Days of Our Lives" just let go of the serives of the actors playing Marlana & John. Here's the link:

I heard about this, but I doubt the genre itself is in danger. As long as they still appeal to their demographics, soaps will still be part of daytime television.

Soap operatic shows are ongoing lifetime, and I really doubt it'll stop the genre because of that. Although, I wish it did stop, because it's getting dangerously close to being emo.

Also, Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn have been fired before. NBC is leaving the door open for them to return.
