AM i a bad person for not likeing Anime anymore?

I usually watch the first episode of each new anime for each new season. Letter Bee was pretty good. I need to finish it. Also I know of another that I am loving. Yumeiro Patasierre Professional.
(I like Professional too!)

I get that, and that's a good trait for you. But not everybody does that and that's the point I'm trying to make. They hear "every anime is moe" or "every anime today is trash" instead of just watching something and finding out for themselves that it's not all moe. It just could never be all moe. You just have to look at it at the least or watch an OP or read a description or something..

A lot of past anime isn't subbed, and we are talking about current anime. That is what this subject is about. If you want to talk about good older anime, maybe you should make a thread for that.

We're talking about a person not liking anime anymore. YOU'RE talking about current anime. (Which, I did too--you just zero'ed in on the mention of older stuff.) I'm trying to point out to a person that he could be looking in the wrong places.

That's why you're annoyed at the state of anime. You waste time watching things you were never going to be to your taste anyway. I pick at most nine series, and some of THOSE don't make it.

That's because you're looking at those shows that are heavily hyped and actually are good. For the amount of crappy anime that are out now, there was still bad stuff back then too.

Of course there was. You never hear about crap from the old days because most people can only tell you about Dragon Ball Z and Gundam Wing from the 90's, and everything else is all 2004+.

Yeah all very good points. If I continue to think the way I do, I might miss something really good.

Nearly all anime today is moe ****, fanservice ****, or incest. It's all a bunch of crap.

That's what's been drawing me away from it!

We all know that classic principle called "Sturgeon's Law": 90% of anything is crud. But with the majority of today's anime no longer diversifying, that percent could be raised to a 95, or a very detrimental 99.

It can't be that high. I really can't see it being that high or else nobody would watch anything.

Sturgeon's Law has always been largely bullshit that's perpetuated by cynical nerds. At some point people need to acknowledge that everything is not for you.

I'm not watching romance stories because most of them are not developed in a manner that would be interesting to me. This does not mean they are bad--it means they aren't written for me.

People refuse to delineate between something like that, and somethingbeing terrible.

I....just do not enjoy watching ANY Anime anymore. I don't know why, i've just kind of fallen out with it since pretty much every series of the past 3 years has been Moeblob crap, and i can't stand it. The few series that have managed to hold my attention (Code Geass, FMA, Darker than Black, Gundam 00) are not on anymore.

I guess i'm just an old fogey. The 90's and early to mid 00's was my golden age.....

I feel like i should have my nerd card taken away.

Tastes change, content cycles, trends shift.

Doesn't make you a bad person.

But there is probably something out there for you to watch, and if not, there's still books, manga, games, etc.

Yeah, there's always manga to read. If I'm in a rare anime slump, there's usually some manga out there to check out.
