2015 Sentai: Shuriken Sentai Ninninger - News/Rumours

Well, a master or a more experienced Ninja could be the 6th Ranger, just like MagiShine in Magiranger.
If this Sentai can be as good as Magiranger, I don't mind it being family-themed

But of course, execution is always key. Ninja Showdown being a fat chance? I think it'll slim fast due to the Dino dynamic we had a year ago. I honestly feel like one of the reasons they picked this theme was to have a ninja team-up. KR is churning out films like it's nothing. Sentai may have found their 'thing' with mini anniversary movies. Albeit a flawed scheme, but still.

No, the fat chance for for the Figuarts comment.

Because the last thing a nation with a dying off population and growing disinterest in sex itself wants is to encourage marriage and larger families. -___-

Because TV has any effect on their sex lives, how? I think there is a bigger problem in the country than what a TV shows.

And even if it did, maybe the issue is the lack of showing a relationship on TV. How many times did Garo avoid showing Kouga and Kaoru getting together? Hell, due to Garo, I think just a man and a woman being able to have lunch together means they are engaged.

Didn't you say Wizard was such a great show?

Uh... no. I said Wizard STARTED out as a great show with a great first half and then it went down hill after Phoenix died. The last 10 episodes were absolute garbage and ruined the show as a whole, making it average. Hell, I wish I hadn't bought all of those Wizard Figuarts that I did because of how it ended.

Turboranger?

I found TurboRanger to be one of the most boring, uninspiring, lackluster series ever. In fact, until Goseiger, TurboRanger was the worst series I had ever suffered through.

I'm not sure about that, but Go-Busters feels very military and apparently military themed shows just don't resonate with Japanese children nowadays and tend to not do well. Even though it's a classic Sentai idea, a lot of the Japanese fandom was complaining that Go-Busters seemed to be pandering to the older fans at the expense of doing things that would keep little kids interested.

I didn't find Go-Buster to have anything militaristic in it. GoGoV was more military than Go-Buster.

I suspect the thinking process for what became Ninninger was quite simple. Yokai Watch has come from nowhere to be a massive hit (it sold more merch this year than either Sentai or Rider). Ninjas fighting yokai is a thing. Boom, Sentai theme chosen. As a happy accident ninjas are also being pushed in the Japanese public's mind again ATM due to all the press about the Naruto manga ending, although the theme for Ninninger was no doubt decided long before that.

Never heard of Yokai Watch. How is it like Sentai or Rider?

It would have been but the red ranger has to be someone the kids can identify with so that they want to pretend to be him and then they'll bug their parents to buy them all the role play toys. It tends to make them big kids rather than someone who reminds you of your dad. :redface2:

Batman is in his 30s and kids love him. James Bond is in his 40s and kids love him. The Doctor is in his 50s and kids love him. I fail to see how a 40+ year old red ranger could be unrelatable. Hell, have one of his kids succeed him as red ranger halfway through the series.

In principle I'd agree that it seems likely. However the big spanner in the works is that Nao Nagasawa, who is normally the actor championing anything Hurricanger, is currently 5 months pregnant. She might not want to take part if she's got an infant at home.
Lol funny you should mention that just after Japan's annual Christmas Day "six hours of sexuality".

It's not like she needs to be on screen. They only had the four secondary rangers to Zyu return for their voices and not for themselves.

We could still get an older 6th or Extra type Ranger. Don't they have a master?

Not that same. I want to see a main hero that is in his late 30s or older again.

It's nothing like Rider or Sentai. It's more comparable to Pokemon.

I'm not sure that's really correct nowadays. They've tonned down James Bond's gadgets and such for years now, and Batman has actually surprising low toy sales these days (the last Batman cartoon even was canceled). I can't speak for Dr.Who, but isn' that mostly a British show? I don't think it's some kind of worldwide success.

Huh... Did we ever get a main hero who was in his "late 30s"?

Are you serious? There are so many mediums through which people can be conditioned to think, TV and movies not the least of which.

I don't see how the quality of a show should affect whether or not you like action figures from that show. But then again, you've never really made a lot of sense to me :P

I found TurboRanger to be one of the most boring, uninspiring, lackluster series ever. In fact, until Goseiger, TurboRanger was the worst series I had ever suffered through.

Like I said...

I'm very suspicious of any criticism of a show suggesting that the reason it didn't do well was because it was too clever for children (see also RPM)

*shrugs* Idk what else to say. Toku Prime goes more in depth, but I do know that at the end of the day it wasn't all fun and games at the start.

Turboranger?

Ehhhh..memorable moments, not the most memorable show. It was pretty average.

Yes, not only that, but old school in the mech battles, humanistic main villains, earning their upgrades, mech fixing in the hangar scenes, brains behind the mech upgrades. Maan, Go-busters may have been the ideal series if...well outside forces didn't interfere and inside forces added some spice to give it that missing flavor. I need to give it a re-watch to remember more of what I liked and disliked.

And good gawd what is this 6 hr sex you speak of..O_O

What's the deal with that standard felt and fur that pinks are getting now?

The first thing I thought when I saw the Ninninger cast was "Why are they dressed up like TQGer?" then I realized Red, White, and Yellow are actually different.

Also, nice to see that we're getting an older looking Red in charge of his team.

I find it abhorrent to use children's TV as propaganda, especially when that propaganda is designed to get them to breed for the sake of the state's agenda.

How are ninjas portrayed in pop culture?

I only recall the poster saying that ninja have a less "serious" image in media than samurai. For myself the only example I can think of is Naruto, which had plenty of serious moments and drama but is very much a shounen manga series with the same level of wackiness you'd expect from a recent Sentai

I didn't find Go-Buster to have anything militaristic in it. GoGoV was more military than Go-Buster.

GoGoV was also broadcast thirteen years prior to Go-Busters, when the market was quite different.

It's generally okay with East Asian countries, where conservativism is more popular than liberalism. I personally think it's for the people's welfare anyway, and it's their choice. There's really no damage done.

I/my family come from a conservative South-East Asian country, and I still find anything that encourages people to breed for the state's purposes morally abhorrent. But even if I didn't, I would still prefer the Rangers as cousins rather than siblings simply because not a lot of Japanese families have five kids these days; even Magiranger will be ten years old by the time Ninninger starts
