Maybe they choose to use certain names etc because it sounded better for them when they did testing?

Maybe to them, from a design viewpoint, having the Lockseeds yell out "SUIKA ARMS" sounded better than "WATERMELON ARMS"?

I don't know just saying. :P

Ichigo sure sounds better than strawberry.

It does seem to be the case given the only ones recognisably in english are Orange and Banana and Melon, so I think all the names are just what the japanese call them

If you put them to translate into Japanese from English using google, Orange, Banana, Pineapple, Melon and Durian don't have 'Japanese names' in Kanji, so yeah, it's just the names used for them in Japan. I guess they though Pineapple was too long for the sounds

basically, the names for the Arms are the names of the fruits in modern Japanese. those that have Japanese names use those, and those who don't use loanwords. in the case of Pine Arms, several foreign loanwords have shorthand such as basketball becoming "baske" and volleyball becoming "volley". I specified modern Japanese because of Orange Arms, as today, Japanese people just use the loanword, while the traditional Japanese word for orange, "daidai" (hence where the Daidaimaru's name comes from), has generally fallen out of use

as for the reason behind the naming, it was likely done for the sake of Japanese children recognizing the fruits by both name and appearance
