It's not necessary to have a pun. Like オーズ being practically an assigned spelling of OOO, Fourze meaning 40 without "ro", DCD being read as Decade and so on.
Not out of the left field to expect them spell it as V-zard and read it as Wizard. Especially considering how "careful" Toei is with transcribing things.
I thought X was for the number 4.
I mean, even though the other Riders said they considered him a Rider, I think Riderman was a sidekick until much later, no?
To the X you can read the following: (As stated by others here, not me)
X in Roman Numerals: 10
X mirroring the two Vs, in Roman Numerals: 5 - 5
[The following part of the comment is an OPINION]
X in Geometric Concepts: 2 lines/edges (Like the X in Fourze's Right Leg) and 4 extremities (Like I thought it was supposed to be with Kamen Rider X)
Like V3 pose is a pun on his own name.
He makes the V victory/peace sign, which is a V.
But in japanese counting (IF I'm not mistaken), they count by joining the fingers to the palm of the hand, and not stretching them, like us Westerns. So a V hand sign counts as a 3. [The previous part of the comment was an OPINION. Readers are suggested not to be morons about it]
If I remember correctly, in Germany, sometimes you pronounce he letter 'W' with the letter 'V', so "Wizard" could be pronounced as "Vizard", just like how "Volkswagen" to us is "Folksvagen" to them. Probably just to put in the letter 'V' for 5 there, not totally sure.
Well you see clearly the title of Kamen Rider just makes you immortal no matter what.
Thus upon uttering that he was, infact, Kamen Rider 4, the Gods took all of the atomized bits of Riderman and put 'em back together again then threw him at an island resort so he could remember his history and then fight a giant crabman with machineguns and drills.
...............the saddest thing is, it's entirely canon.

Isn't it funny that even with all crazy tropes, and wacky seasons, Sentai manages to keep a better continuism and face less issues of keeping their Rangers dead than Riders?

And I can remember a number of characters counting like this in Tokusatsus I've watched too, the first example coming to my mind being Ryuki, not really sure about when, though.
[OPINION] I mean, they're revived for team ups, and those small miraculous moments; but they're usually put back to sleep afterwards. But... Well, y'all know what I mean. No use going over this. [/OPINION]
