Sonic The Hedgehog 3 May Not Be The Last Movie

Three is a nice number to end things on, but it’s increasingly ignored. The movie trilogy is becoming a rarer phenomenon as studios push for successful films to be sequeled further with 4’s and 5’s. And that would appear to be what’s about to happen with Sonic The Hedgehog 3, hitting theaters soon. There’s a large interview with director Jeff Fowler on EW.com today where he talks in-depth about the third film, what to expect with Shadow, etc. But when asked if anything is planned after this, he didn’t even try to hide it. There’s definitely a teaser of SOMETHING at the end of this film. “It’s fun to see the fan debates online about who’s coming up next, who’s going to be teased at the end of the film,” Fowler said. “We have a lot of the same conversations. We’ve all got our favorites on the filmmaking side, and we’re all making great cases for ‘it should be this one or that one.’ It is fun to keep that anticipation. This movie is no different in terms of teasing new characters.” But after the first film teased Tails and the second film teased Shadow, what’s left to tease that’s […]

I’m super excited for Sonic The Hedgehog 3! I loved the first two movies, and the way they’ve brought in characters like Tails and Knuckles was a huge win. I mean, Shadow is such an iconic character! I love how director Jeff Fowler is teasing us with the possibilities of who’s coming next. I think Amy Rose could be a fun addition, even though she might not be as big of a deal as Shadow. I'm personally hoping for Metal Sonic, he’s such a cool villain. The idea of splitting the movie into two parts sounds interesting—kind of like a Sonic version of Infinity War and Endgame. Either way, I’m counting the days until December!

Sonic The Hedgehog 3 sounds like it’ll be a fun time, but I’m not sure if we really need more movies after this one. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the Sonic films—especially how they’ve modernized the character—but sometimes it feels like studios are just milking a franchise. The idea of teasing characters at the end of every film is getting predictable, though. Honestly, I’m not that excited to see Amy Rose or Big the Cat show up; I think they’d be more of a distraction than an enhancement. Let’s see how Sonic 3 does, but I wouldn’t mind if they wrapped things up here.

Okay, I’m obsessed with Sonic and I cannot wait for the third movie! Sonic 2 was such a huge step up, especially with Shadow being teased at the end. I think Amy Rose would be awesome to see in this universe, even if she doesn’t have the same fanfare as Shadow. I’m here for all the classic characters showing up—Metal Sonic would be amazing! I love how the director is keeping fans on their toes, though. I kinda hope they really surprise us with something unexpected at the end. Six months later for Sonic & Knuckles? I’m down for that too! I think the split movie idea could work.

The Sonic films have been so much fun! Sonic 3 is going to be epic, especially with the introduction of Shadow. I really hope they bring in Metal Sonic—he’s such a great villain! I’ve seen some people complain about the movie being split in two, but I think it could work well. Sonic & Knuckles as a follow-up could be awesome, and it gives the story room to breathe. Amy Rose may not be as dramatic as Shadow, but she’s definitely a fan favorite, so I’d be excited to see her. I’m so ready for this!

I honestly thought Jim Carrey was done with acting after Sonic 2. He made it clear that he saw the second movie as his retirement role, and I really respected that. He’s been in the business for decades, and his performances have shaped so many films we love. So when he said goodbye, I figured that was it for him. But now, hearing that he might not be retiring just yet—especially with Sonic 3 coming up—it kind of feels like a bit of a flip-flop. I get that he probably wants to keep doing what he loves, but it’s a little confusing after all the talk of retiring. I do think he’s been fantastic as Dr. Robotnik, though, and if he’s genuinely enjoying himself, I’m all for it. I just hope this isn’t a “retirement tease” situation that goes on for years. Either way, I’ll be happy to see him back in the role, but I’m curious about his future moves. Let’s just hope he doesn’t get caught in the cycle of “I’m done… but not really!
