10 Way to make Tokkyuger a great show

Isn't making your characters interesting always the goal? It seems like this one goes without saying. Do we also have to point out that it really would be a better Sentai show if those trains turned into that giant robot?

Dragonranger wasn't a "hardcore loner". Once he sorted out his issues with his brother, he would very much have liked to be a member of the team but he was stuck in that lapseless room to prevent himself from dying. Besides, a theme that's run through every Sentai ever is that when people help each other they can achieve things they never would alone. Even when they do have a "loner" sixth ranger, it's only so that they can be taught that lesson. It's the whole point of the "lone wolf" stereotype - wolves are naturally pack animals and a single wolf by itself isn't following it's true nature.

I can appreciate that over the top comedic sixth rangers can be annoying at times, but then again there were ones like Beet J Stagg that were actually geniunely funny. And there have been serious sixth rangers like DekaBreak or MagiShine that just stopped standing out at all within a few episodes and weren't very memorable to me. So for me it's just making sure that "make sure you have interesting characters" continues into the sixth ranger too.

I have mixed feelings on that one. Normally I just skip dancing credits, but that's mainly because I find the ED songs quite generic. I ADORE watching the little kids dancing along to the Kyoryuger credits every week though. So cute  I struggle with the ballady songs too. Just taken as songs, some of the end themes (like Jetman, Megaranger and Gaoranger's) can be quite nice. Others just suck the life out of me and really seem out of place at the end of a high octane episode.

Honestly, I think there are just a lot of people who don't like it when red rangers (and main kamen riders for that matter) and insufficiently "macho" for their tastes. Most of the comments I've seen about Gosei Red aren't about him being nice, they're about him being too "girly". Personally it's not something I care about. As was pointed out several times by his teammates, Alata is like the wind. Most of the time he's a soft, gentle breeze. But sometimes he's an unstoppable, destructive hurricane. He usually just goes with the flow, but he's never entirely predictable. I have no problem with them trying out other things, but most people seem to just want red to be permanently stuck in "ooh I'm badass" mode.

What's that got to do with the quality of the series itself?

There's been an interview published since the end of Gokaiger that established that they didn't originally plan on having any cameos beyond those of the teams who's great powers would be add-ons for Gokai-Oh. After the earthquake the show was basically being written on the fly to accomodate all the extra tribute episodes that sentai alumni were making themselves available for. The Zangyack definitely suffered because of that, as series arcs and character development all round had to be ditched for time. But I think it's unlikely to happen this year because Tokkyuger has no real reason to be changed on the fly like Gokaiger was.

OK, but why? Character development and backstory are not the same thing. If you tell the audience that nobody knows about a character's past and then don't use it to further the story, then it's just pointless fluff.

Well all Sentai have some sort of base, and this seems as likely as anything else.

Gorisaki wasn't a cry baby. He mothered Ryuji all the time, but as lazy mentioned above that was just them trying to re-do Deneb. Let's be honest, they're not going to drop the comedy aspect, and that comedy aspect will be very much aimed at little kids, so the chances are that an older audience might not find it funny. And there is nothing more annoying than someone trying to be funny all the time but constantly failing (hello, Kamen Rider Fourze). If they don't make one of the rangers the designated comic relief character, then there'll be an ally there to take the part.

Again, I think it just goes back to "well-written, interesting villains please". There have been villains that were not full costumes that haven't gone down very well with people (hello, Shizuka of the Wind) and there have been full-costume villains that were very well done (Gator from Changeman).

According to reviews of Kyoryu vs Go-Busters from people who have seen it (a Tokkyuger spoiler follows):

[HIDE]Raito/Light/Tokkyu-1 comes across as a bit of a dick and denies that the Tokkyugers are a Sentai team[/HIDE]

So, yeah, I think it's way too early to make baseless comparisons to Alata or assume the character will be a certain way. I think judging characters based on actors' looks is both offensive and absurd, remember how many people expected Philip to be like something out of a yaoi manga and were surprised at the character we actually got?

Look at the Kyoryu movie for instance, it introduced two human villains (D's sidekicks) and they were crap! They just existed for fanservice and were even NAMED "Chest" and "Legs." I can't see how characters like that are automatically better than a well-done suit villain.

How to make a show interesting. Hard mode: Said show has not aired yet. Talk about a challenging puzzle.

So Vanilish made another nonsense thread. Take a shot

And I've just recovered from my hangover of my last shot.....

Don't do the drinking game based on this rule, you'll just get busted every week.

Why create this thread when the show hasn't even aired yet? Your so-called suggestion is in fact what people usually do as a review when the show has ended their airing. Ok, some of the points you said can be sensible since it is in comparison form, but where is your comparison coming from? Mentioning Goseiger, Gorisaki, human villain and so forth as if the show is nearing their run. Have some context here at first (in other words, wait for the show to run for 40+ eps).

Please stop trolling here and asks some serious questions that is answerable, or if you can't, just pile them all in 1 thread. We all can see if you have got some new questions just from the thread only.

Meh, it's subjective. Geki is not at the top of my list of best dance ed scenes. I'd probably rank Go-on's, Gosei's before it. Geki had too much awkward suits(well only one, but it was all over), a problem shared with GoBus and a little with Kyoryu.

Kaku had none of the cast dancing (which is bad for me), but it was still kinda fun.

EDIT: Come to think of it, I think it's mostly because I actually like ParaPara. I don't think it's that popular among westerners.

If they're something like Kaku, Geki & Aba, then they're okay but.. anything else is ew.

The best endings I think are those "slice of life" ones like Fiveman, Mega, Ginga and GoGoV. Then endings that showcase things related to what the heroes do, like Ohranger.
