Fable Anniversary Officially Announced
On the heels of a rumor that the Fable forums had recently been rebooted, comes the announcement of a HD upgrade for the Fable series.
Announced via a podcast over at Major Nelson’s hangout, Fable Anniversary will be a “complete HD graphical overhaul” which will be redoing Fable Lost Chapters visuals in full 1080p with Unreal Engine 3-powered lighting and a new animation system for faces and cutscenes. Also getting an update are some of the outdated controls and interface as well as the save system, which is being brought up as a modern checkpoint-based setup. Below is a screenshot comparison of what to expect from the updated graphics.
Of course achievements will be added to the mix and Smart Screen integration will be an added extra that will let you display a map or possibly take in game screenshots. They’ve also released a little teaser trailer to get your blood pumping for the remake here.
I for one am extremely excited to get my hands on a HD remake. With all the hate out there for the series, it’s always been difficult for me to understand. Sure, Fable 2 and 3 weren’t as good as the first game, but I thought they were still good games in their own right. Luckily the best game in the series will be able to be played by everyone who owns a 360 this Holiday season.
