Dauntless: The Battle Of Midway Hits Blu-Ray October 21
World War II will always be one of the best period settings, and there are hundreds of inspiring true stories to mine from it. Dauntless: The Battle of Midway is one such true story, and the dramatization will be heading to Blu-Ray, DVD and VOD October 21.
The Battle Of Midway took place in June of 1942, as a US carrier group attempted to push back the advancing Japanese Navy in the Pacific. In the midst of this battle are the two-man crew of a dive-bomber, who take a direct hit and have to parachute into the ocean.
Fortunately they didn’t become prisoners of war, but sitting around adrift on the surface of the sea isn’t a much better fate. Days later, a crew sets out to search for survivors, but it’s a big ocean…can they reach the pair in time?
Dauntless: The Battle of Midway stars Judd Nelson (TV’s Empire, New Jack City) and C. Thomas Howell (TV’s SEAL Team, The Punisher). It was directed by….presumably somebody (the copy doesn’t give details) and it’ll be heading to all video-playing platforms October 21.

In an effort to change the course of the war, a United States carrier group is positioned off the coast of Midway, tasked with springing a trap on the enemy. During this pivotal battle, the two-man crew of a U.S. Navy dive bomber is forced to ditch in the sea.Set adrift, the men look towards their comrades for rescue; namely, the ragtag crew of a PBY Catalina, who are sent to search for survivors. Amid the vast openness of the Pacific, with days passing and the chance of rescue fading, the men are forced to face their own mortality.
