Castlevania: First Teaser Trailer for Netflix Show
Netflix recently released the first teaser trailer this week for the upcoming Castlevania animated series. You can check out the new teaser trailer in the player below.
The upcoming animated series is based on the long-running video game franchise of the same name. So far, the results look promising. The show looks dark, moody, and atmospheric. An animated TV show is likely a better format for a video game adaptation. Animation can take the material a little further and look more stylized and get away with looking less “realistic.” The visuals and concepts of Castlevania might translate better in video game form than live action. There wasn’t a great deal of footage in the teaser, but it’s enough to get one excited. The show looks like it has a type of anime look and feel, which arguably makes sense considering Castlevania’s origins as it was developed in Japan by Konami.
If the show is a high quality show and a success, maybe that can lead to future games getting a similar TV format on Netflix, instead of waiting to hear news like Tom Holland being cast as Nate Drake for the Uncharted movie because Tom Rothman wants to reformat it as as the adventures of Young Nate Drake based on a couple short chapters from the actual games. Keep in mind, the Uncharted games focus on Drake in his adulthood.
Castlevania will debut on Netflix later this summer on July 7.
