Castlevania: Nocturne Will Debut On Twitch And YouTube
Conceivably, Netflix’s Castlevania anime could go on for a long time, given how many games there are in the series, and the fact they got four seasons out of just ONE game. But they’re about to take new inspiration from a different installment, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, which introduced vampire killer Richter Belmont. That game and its protagonist will serve as inspiration for the latest series, Castlevania: Nocturne.
It’s 18th century France. There’s a revolution going on! Heads are literally rolling, and the aristocracy is looking for anything that can help them cling to power. And we do mean “anything,” as some of them now seem to be sporting fangs and a taste for blood. Richter enters this chaos on a mission to aid the resistance, spurned by the death of his mother to a vampire. There he meets spell-slinging Maria Renard, and the pair team up to find and stake Dracula once again.
Castlevania: Nocturne was created by showrunner Clive Bradley and producer Kevin Kolde. Previous showrunner Warren Ellis managed to complete his work on the previous Castlevania before his bad behavior got him fired. What remains the same are the flashy hand-drawn visuals, once again created by Powerhouse Animation.
Now here’s something unexpected: Netflix is promoting the series by launching the first episode on YouTube and Twitch a day before the full season becomes available on their service. You’ll be able to see Episode 1 for free on those websites September 27, and catch the rest of the season September 28.
