Brie Larson Reportedly in Talks to Play Captain Marvel
Variety has a report on who is in talks to star in Marvel’s highly anticipated Captain Marvel film. According to the report, Academy Award winning actress Brie Larson is in talks to play the titular hero. The report indicates Marvel is in the negotiations stage with Larson and that Larson is Marvel’s first choice. In addition, she’s said to be leaning towards the part. Marvel has not commented on the story.
The Captain Marvel film is still early in pre-production, and a director is not yet attached. It’s possible the Captain Marvel character could appear in another Marvel movie before she gets her own solo film in July 2018. The script is being penned by Meg Le Fauve and Nicole Perlman. The story follows air force pilot Carol Danvers, who has her DNA fused with an alien during an accident. This imbues her with super powers.
Larson definitely comes off like a strong choice. She’s currently building a strong resume and body of work. She’s already won a Golden Globe and an Academy Award, so she would bring a lot of that prestige to the project. Plus, this marks Marvel’s first female-led solo comic book superhero movie.
Kevin Feige is producing the project. Captain Marvel hits theaters on July 6, 2018.
