Virgil Films is now distributing the true-life drama TRAFFICKED, about the victims of suburban sexual trafficking, on digital and physical platforms. The film bears the subtitle “A Parent’s Worst Nightmare,” but I think that kinda goes without saying.
Allison Riley, a teenager from a sheltered suburb, seems to have everything going right in her life — until it takes a hard swerve. She falls in love with a boy online, who insists that they have to meet in person. She sneaks out of her house in the middle of the night, and that’s the last anyone sees of her. Her parents, desperate for answers after dealing with ineffectual police, hire a private investigator to uncover the truth. Can the PI track down Allison’s trail and rescue her from the traffickers before she’s shipped off to parts unknown?
Though the Allison Riley featured in the story doesn’t exist, TRAFFICKED is technically a true-life story as it’s based on actual events that happened to other children. The film stars Sophie Bolen (The Horse Dancer, Rodeo Girl) as Allison, Kristy Swanson (the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Simone in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) and Mark Boyd (Whip It, 12 Monkeys) as her parents, and Dean Cain (Lois and Clark, God’s Not Dead) as Private Investigator John Belton.
You can find TRAFFICKED starting today on DVD and all major VOD platforms.
