The Last BlockBuster, Netflix is going to make a TV show about it
The Last Blockbuster is still open for business. Who would have thought there are still some people who want to rent Physical copies of movies, Tv shows, and video games. Especially now that we live in a world where most people are streaming and downloading content online. We have multiple platforms that offer a rich library of old and new content we can binge-watch without leaving the comfort of our home. Can you imagine! Back in the 90s, there were over 9000 Blockbuster outlets around the world. It also has some rival companies that sell tapes and CDs and also leases them for rent. When the Blockbuster around my area closed down, I was able to buy hundreds of tapes and DVDs for a cheap price.
Here is the Last branch of the former powerhouse in the world. It is found in a small town in Oregon. Yes people there still rent and buy Physical copies of media.
The Last Blockbuster in the world
There was a time when Blockbuster reigns supreme and Netflix was just a humble startup. The founders of Netflix offered their technology and company to Blockbuster and they pitched it as the future. Netflix offered Blockbuster $50 Million to buy their company, but the arrogant giant declined. We know what happened next, The company died down and the company they underestimated and refused became the next giant.
It is ironic now that Netflix will make a workplace comedy about The Last Blockbuster in the world. It will star Randall Park(Fresh Off the Boat) and Melissa Fumero. (Brooklyn Nine-Nine )This 10 episode comedy will show the struggles of an entrepreneur who tries to keep an obsolete business model alive. It is not yet known if this is going to be based on the true story of This struggling business or a fictionalized one.
