James Mangold Has Strong Words For Post-Credits Scenes

It started simply enough. The end of Iron Man (the first movie) had a scene depicting Nick Fury confronting Tony Stark and noting he wanted to “talk to him about the Avengers Initiative”. Signaling that the Avengers were coming. After that, virtually every superhero movie that came out, Marvel or not, had a post-credits sequence. Some were amazing, some teased what was to come, and some were trolls (we’re looking at you Spider-Man: Homecoming). Either way though, most people love them, but most people does not include James Mangold.

Superhero movies have been a big thing in the last decade and a half, ironically truly starting with X-Men, which just had another movie from that universe released via Logan. Because of their success, certain things in movies have happened, or are expected. For example, the idea of an end-credits scene is synonymous with the superhero genre, and when one doesn’t have it, fans wonder why. Logan, the final film for Hugh Jackaman as X-Men character Wolverine is already getting rave reviews despite it not being out for another week. People are praising how Jackman and direcotr James Mangold helped make Wolverine into someone who isn’t just a man who’s “the best he is at what he does”, but a more emotional character.
