James Wan Tapped For Live-Action Gargoyles Series
They live again! Kind of. The Gargoyles, those badass defenders of the night who prowled The Disney Afternoon in the 90s, are officially returning, Disney confirmed today. But….sorry folks, here’s the “but”….it’s a live-action reboot. Now, it might not be terrible. Surprisingly, they convinced James Wan and his production company Atomic Monster to make the show for Disney+. Wan made his Hollywood breakthrough with the original Saw and founded the Conjuring franchise. The dude knows his horror, and even though Gargoyles isn’t really a “scary” story, Wan is smart enough to avoid the mistakes others in charge would’ve made. The edge should be intact. (And if they have any sense, Keith David will still voice the CGI Goliath.) The announcement is getting mixed reactions. The casuals are going “yay, more Gargoyles” and the hardcore is moaning “continue the original, no reboots!” I kinda fall in the latter camp. While Wan usually produces quality products, the existence of this kiboshes any hope of Disney reviving the cartoon anytime soon, like they’re
