Swapped doesn’t just ask, “What if you walked a mile in someone else’s shoes?” It asks, “What if you had to fly with their wings… or survive the forest floor with their tiny legs?” And honestly, that’s a much bigger problem.
Arriving on Netflix on May 1, 2026, this animated adventure from Skydance Animation takes a classic body-swap story, tosses it into a magical ecosystem, and then politely steps back to watch the chaos unfold.
Directed by Nathan Greno (Tangled), the film stars Michael B. Jordan– fresh off his Academy Award-winning performance in The Sinners– and Juno Temple. Yes, that’s right: an Oscar winner is now voicing a very stressed woodland creature. Range!
Welcome to The Valley (It’s Beautiful… and Slightly a Mess)
To start, the film drops us into “The Valley,” a vibrant, mythical world that looks like it belongs on a postcard, until you realize everyone living there is low-key in survival mode.
Bird-like creatures have been over-foraging, woodland critters are running out of food, and tensions are rising faster than your screen time report. Naturally, this creates an “us vs. them” situation that feels all too familiar… just with more feathers.
Meet the Least Likely Duo
Enter Ollie and Ivy, our central pair of professional disagree-ers.
Ollie (Jordan) is tiny, scrappy, and just trying to make it through the day without becoming lunch. Meanwhile, Ivy (Temple) soars above it all as a majestic bird who clearly has never had to worry about stepping on a twig too loudly.
They clash instantly. And repeatedly. If they had a podcast, it would just be 45 minutes of arguing.
Then a Flower Ruins Everything
However, just when their rivalry reaches peak annoyance, a magical glowing flower steps in and says, “What if we made this worse?”
Cue the body swap.
Suddenly, Ollie wakes up in Ivy’s body, complete with wings, altitude, and zero flying experience. Meanwhile, Ivy finds herself tiny, grounded, and discovering that life is much harder when everything around you is approximately 100 times bigger than you.
What follows is pure comedic gold: crash landings, panic flying, confused instincts, and the universal realization that maybe, just maybe, being the other person isn’t as easy as it looks.
Chaos First, Growth Later
At first, they do what anyone would do in this situation: blame each other.
But as danger closes in (and it will close in, this is the wilderness, not a spa retreat), they have no choice but to team up. Gradually, their constant bickering turns into reluctant cooperation… and eventually, something resembling mutual respect.
Don’t worry, they still argue. Growth doesn’t happen overnight.
A Comedy Bench That Delivers
Meanwhile, the supporting cast swoops in (sometimes literally) to keep the energy high. The film features voices from Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, Justina Machado, Ambika Mod, and Lolly Adefope.
Expect big personalities, quick jokes, and at least one character who absolutely thinks they’re the main character (even though they are not).

Big Views, Small Problems (and Vice Versa)
Visually, Swapped has a lot of fun with perspective. When Ollie suddenly experiences life from the sky, everything feels massive and unpredictable. On the flip side, Ivy’s new ground-level reality introduces her to a world where every step matters, and every shadow might be a problem.
In short: flying is hard, being tiny is harder, and both are somehow still funnier when someone else is doing it.
More Than Just Laughs
Of course, beneath all the chaos and comedy, the film carries a clear message. By forcing these two enemies to live each other’s lives, Swapped explores empathy, understanding, and coexistence.
It turns out that solving conflict might require more than just talking, it might require, well… a full-body experience.
(Not recommended in real life. Please do not attempt.)
So… Should You Watch It? (Short Answer: Yes.)
All things considered, Swapped looks like a lively, heartfelt adventure that knows exactly how to balance humor with meaning. With Michael B. Jordan bringing post-Oscar gravitas (and likely some comedic panic) and Juno Temple delivering sharp, witty contrast, the film has a strong foundation.
Add in dazzling animation, a high-concept premise, and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, and you’ve got a movie that feels ready to soar.
Or stumble awkwardly into flight.
Either way, we’re watching.
Just remember: if you see a glowing flower… maybe keep walking.
