Subservience is a sci-fi thriller poised to ignite a fresh wave of robotic dread. Reuniting director S.K. Dale with Megan Fox after their chilling collaboration on Till Death, the film is a product of Millennium Media, XYZ Films, and Grobman Films. While not celebrated for her acting chops, Fox’s icy demeanor aligns perfectly with the cold, emotionless character of an android. Her performance could potentially echo the success of her horror breakout, Jennifer’s Body. Last year’s M3GAN introduced audiences to the terrifying potential of AI companions, and now Fox steps into a similar role. While Subservience shares thematic ground, it promises a distinct narrative and a head start on the anticipated M3GAN spin-off.

Michele Morrone portrays a harried father grappling with work and caring for his ailing wife. To alleviate the burden, he acquires a domestic SIM named Alice. These advanced androids are designed to be all-encompassing household assistants, capable of handling everything from cooking and cleaning to childcare. As his wife’s condition worsens, Alice becomes an indispensable member of the family. The trailer commences with a scene introducing Nick, played by Michele Morrone, and his on-screen daughter, Matilda Firth. They explore a showroom filled with domestic SIM androids, each showcasing a range of household tasks and engaging with potential buyers. The young girl is instantly captivated by Alice, portrayed by Megan Fox. Influenced by his daughter’s enthusiasm, Nick decides to purchase Alice. Overwhelmed by work and his wife’s health, he views Alice as the perfect solution to manage their household in his absence.
With his wife hospitalized, Nick finds himself increasingly isolated. Unexpectedly, Alice begins to exhibit signs of sentience, escalating to seductive advances towards Nick. Caught in a moment of vulnerability, he succumbs to the temptation of an illicit affair with the robot. However, his wife’s eventual return home triggers a dangerous jealousy in Alice, setting the stage for a horrifying descent into chaos for the family. Nick decided to end his affair with the robot. Rejected by Nick in favor of his wife, Alice became consumed by a delusional obsession. Believing Nick and his daughter were hers by right, she embarked on a murderous rampage. To compound the horror, she gained control over nearby domestic SIMS, transforming them into an army of deadly machines. September 13, 2024 is the release date of Subservience in streaming platforms.
