Strike continues, Netflix rather buy Korean content that listen to the strikes

It’s been more than 100 days, and the writers are still on strike. Some of our TV shows are still running because they had episodes ready to go. But once those episodes run out, there won’t be any American shows on TV. There are movies that are finished and ready for theaters, but if those run out, we won’t have any new movies in 2024. Maybe Indie movies and foreign films.

Unfortunately, we don’t have late-night talk shows anymore. That’s because the writers are all on strike. They’re not getting paid enough to make a living, and that’s why they’re protesting. While they can still make money from TV and movies, streaming services like Netflix and Disney Plus aren’t giving them a fair deal. If you’re a writer for Netflix, you won’t be paid well. This happened before in 2006 because of the same issue and lasted for 100 days. It caused a lot of TV shows to be canceled, even though they were popular, and reality shows became a big thing.

The Strike is also the reason why the Emmys got delayed again

Now, there’s another problem: an Actor’s strike. You might wonder why actors, who seem rich, are striking.

Well, only the really famous ones have a lot of money. Other actors like extras and stunt doubles struggle to live a decent life. They don’t earn from streaming  services

either. And there’s a new issue too – A.I. and deepfake. Some actors are being asked to sell their looks and voices, so they can be used in movies and TV. There’s even a movie coming out with a CGI A.I. version of the late James Dean.

You might know Fran Drescher from “The Nanny.” But in real life, she’s the President of Sag-aftra and she’s serious about helping actors. They’re not getting treated right because of streaming services and the threat of A.I. So she’s leading the fight for their rights.

Here is Fran Dresher  revealing how much 86% of actors made in a year

TV networks and movie studios are willing to talk to the writers, but streaming services aren’t paying attention.

They think they can replace writers with A.I. and shows from other countries. Netflix just spent a lot of money on Korean shows. Shows like “Squid Game” became super popular, showing that Korean shows can be as good as Hollywood ones, but cheaper. And for those who don’t like subtitles, dubbing is getting better on Netflix. They Just invested 2.5 Billion dollars to make more South Korean content.

I also see more Spanish, Brazilian, and German shows on Netflix. Even countries like Canada, UK, and Australia have English shows. China is making English movies now too, with Hollywood actors.

Reality TV is big now, so streaming services don’t really care about the strikes. But that might change because Sag-aftra is thinking about making a union for reality stars.

This is incredible! A full-fledged Arkanoidvania? Sign me up! I've poured countless hours into the original Arkanoid, and the thought of exploring a whole world with that classic brick-breaking gameplay is mind-blowing. Eighty screens? That's a campaign I can sink my teeth into. Plus, throw in a gothic atmosphere, some intriguing NPCs, and even fried chicken secrets in the walls? This is the kind of creative mashup that makes the indie scene so exciting. Physical cart with a fancy manual for $66? Sold! I gotta support this passion project.

An Arkanoidvania, huh? Interesting concept. I love a good Metroidvania, and the nostalgia factor of Arkanoid is strong. But will the core gameplay hold up for eighty screens? Repetition can be a real killer in these brick-breakers. And while a gothic setting sounds cool, I'm worried it might clash with the lighthearted, colorful vibe of Arkanoid. The fried chicken thing is just weird. I'll keep an eye on this Kickstarter, but I'm gonna wait for some reviews before I pledge.

Whoa, a nine-dollar digital download? That's way cheaper than most new games these days. As long as the core Arkanoid gameplay is solid, this could be a real steal. I don't need all the fancy bells and whistles of a physical edition or collectible cards. Give me a good challenge and a chance to relive some childhood memories, and I'm happy. This Kickstarter seems like a low-risk way to try something different.

Limited edition with a see-through purple shell? Now you're talking my language! I gotta have that on display next to my retro collection. $88 is a bit steep, but considering it comes with the game, cards, and a cool cart, it might be worth it. The Arkanoidvania concept sounds intriguing, but honestly, for me, it's all about the physical collectables. This Kickstarter is hitting all the right buttons for a retro enthusiast like me.

I love that games are still being developed for the NES. ROMs and physical media. For the NES, for the Dreamcast. Love it.
