Spider-Man: Far From Home — The Big Trailer Has Landed
Earlier this week Sony and Marvel promised a second trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home would hit at precisely 5:30 PM Pacific on Tuesday evening. They kept to their word. The full trailer is viewable now in hundreds of places including this website.
Here’s what we learned from the first one: Spider-Man’s secret identity is out. Peter Parker would like it back in. But it’s kinda impossible to do that without magic. Good thing magic actually exists in his world!
He calls up Doctor Strange and the man starts whipping up a World Amnesia Spell – and then Parker suddenly realizes his friends and family will forget him too. He rushes to stop the spell, screwing it up — and that’s where Trailer #2 begins. The new trailer doesn’t reveal if Parker’s identity was re-secretized, but it does confirm the villains from previous cinematic Spider-Trilogies have arrived in his dimension to cause trouble.
Now here’s the weird part. This version of Spidey doesn’t want to get rid of the villains — meaning he doesn’t want to kill them. In fact, he’s distressed to learn they’re fated to die in their home dimensions. He figures he can save all their lives AND turn them good. But you saw those movies; they seem pretty irredeemable. Is he making another huge mistake? And where are Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield like the rumors promised?
Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, JK Simmons and Marisa Tomei reprise their roles in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The movie is due out December 17.
