Skylanders Making Special Versions Of Characters To Promote Autism Awareness
Video game companies may be mostly about profit, however, they’re not above doing things for a cause. And when they do, it’s often a very good one.
For Activision, they’ve taken the initiative and remodeled some of their popular Skylanders toys to resemble the colors of Autism Speaks, a group dedicated to making people aware of Autism, and promoting the need to try and cure it.
Along with several new Skylanders, Splat and TriggerHappy, and their vehicles, the Splatter Splasher and Gold Rusher, are available in blue and white. In-game colors for the characters and their vehicles also change to reflect the special toys.
Autism Speaks is an autism science and advocacy organization dedicated to “funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism.” The organization also works to increase awareness of autism spectrum disorders.
Activision has heard from parents who say “Skylanders plays a special role in the lives of their kids on the autism spectrum.”
“The entire Skylanders team was deeply committed and proud to bring these special toys to life,” Taub said.
The new and remodeled Skylanders toys are available right now.
